Gunmen kill a leading elder in Gedo region

Unknown gunmen have killed Mohamed Hashi Diriye was shot dead by unknown gunmen in Beledhawo district in the Gedo region.

District security officials are currently investigating the killing of the traditional elder, who has been a focal point for reconciliation in the region.

The motive behind Hashi’s murder remains unclear and no group has claimed responsibility for the assassination which comes amid tension in the province.
