Somalia expresses hope for success in seas row case with Kenya

The Attorney General, Dr. Suleiman Mohamed Mohamud provided further details on the progress of the Somalia-Kenya maritime case, which is currently being heard by the ICJ.

Dr. Suleiman announced that the first round of maritime hearings has closed, and Somali lawyers have presented their arguments.

He added that their chances of success, in this case, are very high, and pointed out that the people and the government are united in the case of the sea.

“I am here to tell the Somali people that the government and the people of Somalia are united in defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Somalia, and I hope that the outcome will be one that will please all Somalis,” he said.

However, the Kenyan government was absent from the court hearing, which had previously demanded a postponement of the hearing but was rejected by the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
