Puntland President Appoints an Interim Administration for Bosaso

Bosaso (PP News Desk) — Puntland State President Said Abdullahi Deni today appointed an interim administration for Bosaso, the commercial city of Puntland.

President Deni appointed Abdiqani Ahmed Ismail as the Interim District Commissioner of Bosaso. Nuur Haji Huruse was appointed as the Deputy Interim District Commisioner.

The new appointments come one day after President Deni suspended Abdisalan Bashir, the former District Commisioner, from work. Last night Abdisalan submitted a letter of resignation.

Puntland President has dissolved Bosaso administration following financial mismanagement allegations. The city is reeling from prison raid by Al-shabaab in which the proscribed group released more than three hundred inmates.

Last year, Puntland Interior Ministry reorganised Bosaso into four neighbourhoods. One week ago, authorities banned carrying weapons in Bosaso.

President Deni visited Bosaso in military fatigues and vowed that “some people will have to carry the can for the failure to prevent the prison raid by Al-shabaab.”
