Somalia's political and security situation is ominous after former president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo - whose mandate ended 15 days ago - ordered a midnight military assault against former presidents Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed and Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and former parliament speaker Sharif Hassan Sheikh Adam. The former presidents were sleeping at Ma'ida Hotel when they came under fire. The next day, Kheire led protestors at the Daljirka Dahson monument, where a peaceful demonstration on the morning of February 19 led to clashes with security forces. The sound of heavy gunfire terrified the entire Mogadishu population.
