Puntland Policeman Kills a Businessman in Galka’yo

Galka’yo (PP News Desk) — Mudug Governor Abdiladif Musse Nur sent a message of condolences to families of two persons and a soldier who died during an operation to arrest a policeman accused of committing a murder.

Yasin Mohamed Mohamud, a policeman in North Galka’yo, yesterday killed Abdullahi Dahir Aden, a businessman, in his business premises in North Galka’yo.

Abdiladif: The suspect will be taken into custody

“The policeman’s brother was killed by a man belonging to the same subclan as the businessman’s despite the two subclans resolving the murder case amicably” said Abdiladif. “Policemen attempting to arrest the policeman exchanged fire with the suspect. Two civilians and one policeman died in the encounter, one civilian was wounded, based on preliminary reports from the Galka’yo police station” added Mudug Governor.

The Governor described the suspect’s motive as a desire to rekindle intra-clan feuding, and deplored that the policeman at large committed murder while wearing police uniform.

Abdiladif said the suspect “will be taken into custody by soldiers pursuing him.”
