Puntland President Requests Release of Budgetary Support Funds

Mogadishu (PP News Desk) — Puntland State President Said Abdullahi Deni yesterday spoke to the media about budgetary support funds from the World Bank for Federal Member States “still being held up at the Federal Finance Ministry”.

“ The debt relief progress is one milestone attained by the Federal Government of Somalia. It is now getting budgetary support which has yet to be distributed to the Federal Member States. In my view there is no a technical problem preventing transfer of funds to Federal Member States” said President Deni.

President Deni requests release of budgetary support funds from the Federal Finance Ministry without common agreement on reporting and auditing procedures in place.

Last week President Deni said that the Federal Government had made no security progress in the capital for the last four years.

Release of budgetary support funds are subject to federal reporting and auditing procedures that Puntland State has yet to sign up to.

Puntland State has not implemented “cash-for-work scheme for vulnerable households” as a part of a World Bank grant.
