Deeq A. Posted April 10, 2020 Mogadishu (PP News Desk) — The Somali Police Force in Mogadishu began today to enforce preventive measures that preclude worshippers from conducting the Friday congregation prayers in the capital. The Federal Government of Somalia has issued enforceable instructions to prevent spread of Covid-19 in the capital. The police clashed with members of the congregation at one of Mogadishu mosques. Yesterday, Mogadishu Mayor Mr Omar Mohamud raised the alarm over increasing Covid-19 infections as a result of community transmission. More than two persons have died of Covid-19 in Mogadishu. Widespread flu in parts of Mogadishu created increased fears of being unable to distinguish the symptoms of the flu and the pandemic. In a mosque the social distancing cannot be practised, which makes spread of Covid-19 easier if one of worshippers unknowingly has symptoms of the disease. The Federal Government is expected to cooperate with the ulema (religious leaders) to ensure that mosques do not become a source of transmission for Covid-19.© Puntland Post, 2020 The post SOMALI POLICE ENFORCES PREVENTIVE MEASURES AT MOSQUES appeared first on Puntland Post.
