Ideology is defined as a set of dominant ideas in society or a way to conceal how power is exercised. The distinction SIRDA draws between between the two sets of “motivations” pays no attention to what young recruits do once they join the proscribed group to advance interests of the terrorist organisation. Guled Salah Barre: Will he defend or retract SIDRA Policy Brief? New recruits gather intelligence, support assassination squads, assassinate identified targets, collect “tax” from businesses or identity potential recruits in the community. In 2016 Al-shabaab fighters who launched the foiled attack against Puntland recruited In South-central and Southern, inter-riverine regions. Mr Guled Salah Barre, the founder and the Executive Director of SIDRA, is the Chairperson of Transitional Puntland Electoral Commission. He was a Minister under the administration of Dr Abdiweli Mohamed Ali. It is the responsibility of Guled to defend or retract the misleading information in SIDRA Policy Brief about Puntlanders in general and Puntland youths in particular. Once a young man becomes radicalised there is no doubt that commitment to ideals and goals of the terror group he had joined is uppermost in his mind. © Puntland Post, 2020 The post SIDRA AND AL-SHABAAB IDEOLOGY appeared first on Puntland Post.
