A Puntland police officer shot dead in Bosaso city

Unknown gunmen have killed a police officer and wounded another in the northern Somalia town of Bosaso.

The gunmen opened fire on the officers and then escaped the scene according to reports.

Police are yet to comment. The officers were working with the Puntland Finance Ministry’s department of revenue.

The motive of the attack is not known, but both militant groups Al-Shabaab and Daesh have been carrying assassinations in the city in the past few years.

There have also been a number of criminal, political or tribal incidences.
