Warplanes conduct airstrike on Al-Shabaab bastion in southern Somalia

Unidentified fighter jets have conducted an airstrike in the vicinity of Awdheegle town in Lower Shabelle region of southern Somalia in the past 48 hours.

At least six missiles fired by the warplanes struck small villages around the former Al-Shabaab stronghold, causing unknown casualties.

The area is largely controlled by Al-Shabaab.

It’s unclear which country belongs to the military jets carried out the aerial bombardment, but, US forces have been conducting air campaigns in the region for the past few months.
