Mogadishu Mayor Dies After Being Injured In Suicide Attack

May Allah Grant Him Jannah, the Mayor of Mogadishu, Somalia, Abdirahman Omar Osman, “Eng. Yariisow” has died in Doha, Qatar, as a result of severe injuries received in a deadly suicide blast at his offices last week.

Eng. Yariisow, along with several other officials were the victims of an attack claimed by the Al-Shabab group targeting the recently appointed UN Special Envoy, Ambassador James Swan. The envoy left the meeting with the Mayor ahead of schedule and as a result survived the assassination attempt.

Despite the heroic efforts by doctors and surgeons in Mogadishu and Doha, Mayor Yariisow succumbed to his injuries. Family members were at his bedside.
