Ethiopia: The Government Removes Tax On Imported Agricultural Machinery

Adis Ababa,(Qaran news)-The Ethiopian federal government has completely eliminated all import taxes on imported agricultural machinery and equipment.

The government has decided to eliminate the taxes in order to encourage agricultural production and improve the technology employed in that sector.

The decision could affect the goods coming through Berbera if the authorities in Somaliland do not respond to this new decision by their Ethiopian counterparts.

If the companies and individuals involved in the agricultural sector in Ethiopia are not required to pay taxes on their imported equipment and goods, then the Somaliland government should make using the port of Berbera much more attractive by offering incentives to increase the flow of goods coming through to the Ethiopian farmers.
