    student loans is huge problem. But i don't think we have a choice...

    Some of us can argue that buying the roof over our head is more important then financing your education through loans... cuz as we all know there are plenty of employers that have tuition reimbursement that pay 90% to 100% of tuition and books.

    Does anyone know where I can find or order Buuga Daraawiishta, I used to own it and loved but lost it few years ago. I am actually looking for the somali version.....some how I can appreciate it better when its written in our mother tongue.

    Lidia I think most Somalis have been in the west last two decades and are still getting used to the idea of living in a country where the culture, religion, norms and everything we hold dear is different; thus cannot afford to buy a house that can cost anywhere from 150k to 300k depending on your region with cash. if the average farah/xalimo had that kind of cash siting in the bank we wouldn't be in this dilema...where everything we desire is some way or another agains our deen.

    Okey a lot of my friends have student loans, revolving credit cards that accrue interest daily, some financed cars (I am guilty of that). Yet we sit around talking about why we cant take a mortgage ….ah hellooo does riba become more dambi when you are buying house?. The Somali saying comes to mind naar hadaad galaysid tiitiimbo lol…..now I am not advocating haram here but I just fail to understand how someone that goes shopping spree on plastic paying anywhere from 9 to 15% interest and letting that debt pile up can argue that ‘buying a house’ is out of their league because it HARAM

    Somerican and psycho_sue you guys have right to your opinion but excuse yourself from this topic as it clearly doesn't need your backward thinking...FYI this is a forum and people exchange and share their ideas which can include any of the non consequential topics discussed in SOL...and just because some of us expressed how we like to sleep doesn't meen that we are desperate for attention...now if you have something positive to add to the topic then go ahead if not take a leave.

    The key to having lots of money is spending less than you earn, saving vigorously and investing. when investing don't put all your eggs in one basket like that guy in your story ...diversify your porfolio by investing in different industries now granted that is not going to eliminate market risk but as more stocks are added each new stock has smaller risk; thus reducing the impact it has on your porfolio.

    Honestly speaking I think everyone should care their partner's past....I mean how can you trust someone that you don't know what they are capabale of....you have to know their past to make an informed decision...cuz you never know after you find about their past you may decide that this is not a person that you want to share your life with....as they say "your past dictates your future"
