Thanks for the links.I'm alittle bit confused over what Nur said.
He seems to be saying at one time its permissible to donate an organ or blood at the same time he adds on that u'r responsible for whatever the other person does with u'r organs like drinking alcohol etc.
I think he like many islamic scholars is using what i call "the logic of reservation".
Organ donation in islam, is not a black and white thing.Hence the need to interepret the quran and to some extent give opinion based on our knowledge of Islam.
Nur here has too options.He can say there is nothing wrong with helping others and endorse something was consequences he is not sure even though there is no direct ayah in the quran that says "organ donation is haram" or he can play save and say we should be careful and avoid organ donation at all.With the latter neither you(the potential donor) nor the person who is giving you advice (nur in this case)will get any sin by not donating an organ.

What makes you guys think we can change how pple in Somalia think.As sad as this things are,pple currently living in Somalia are responsible of all that happens in their neighbourhood.
The tribal leaders and the fishermen were busy selling Somalia as a dumping ground to the Italian Mafia for a few hundred dollars.
The average citizen of somalia,is busy contributing in the destruction of their ancestoral lands.People are cutting down 200 hundred yrs old Acacia trees just to sell them as charcoal to the Arabs for pennies.
I'm not a pessimist,certainly i'm not optimistic about people in Somalia changing for the good.They have along long way to go.

So far nobody is willing to donate his body to a medical school.
My question is if we all lived in somalia,how on earth do we expect somali state universities to compete in the medical field, if the future doctors can't get hold of a somali body to study.
Are we against organ or body donation because our culture is not familiar with it.Why are we so concerned about myths like "doctors will let u die so they can have u'r organs".What about our parents,do they know anything about the advantages and disadvantages of organ donation.
How many of us here know that we can be eye donors and someone out there can actually utilise our eyes long after we are dead.
On the religious side,what are the consequences if someone abuses the organ we donated.On the day of judgement,i'm sure we have all heard how our own body(tongue,hands,eyes,etc) will testify against us.So what will happen if i donated my eyes to someone else.Will my eyes testify against me,the recipient or will they testify against both of us.

Women like Asra Noman make the whole idea of empowering muslim women hard.I saw this lady on the news.She was talking about reforming islam and yet she couldn't even reform herself by keeping her hijab on.
Imagine if i was sagging my jeans and at the same time i was preaching somali kids about keeping their culture.

Lool i thought a scientist like u will led us to the promised land of organ donation,I guess in the end our imaginations gets the best of us.
Personally,i have no problem donating my organs provided Islam allows it.If possible i will donate my body to a medical school in somalia,but again i don't know what islam says about donating u'r body to medical students.

So far the real organ donor hasn't raised his/her.

U have a valid point and i do understand where u coming from.However,if me and you are not interested in donating our organs,who on earth will donate to us if we ever(may God forbide it) need them.Think about it for aminute.

It's been long since i posted a topic here and i'm alittle bit rusty, so please bear with me.Afew months ago a i moved from Carli to Minny and in the process i had to change my DL.Since mine was a Cdl i had to wait a couple of months, for the dept of homeland security and the F.B.I to do a background check on me.And I think i should sue Osama for loss of wage,coz if it wasn't him this whole process would have been finished in less than three weeks.
Anyway i just recieved it recently,however there were some clerical errors and i had some endorsements missing.I went back to the DMV and they promised to fix the problem.
My question is when u apply for DL or ID, do u check yes or no on the question that says,"do you want to donate an organ" and what would you do if clerical error had you listed as a donor.
In general what do u think of organ and body donation......Body donation basically means giving the whole of u'r body to an institution like a university for medical students to study or u can think of the "the body farm" in Tennessee where they throw u'r body in the forest for forensic puposes and study how fast it decomposes.
ps-Again forgive me if i didn't make myself clear and i will appreciate if u let me know what u'r answers are.Thanks in advance.

I think the above qoute says it all.The fear of the unknown(in this case imagine life without F.G.M in somalia) makes some pple believe "better the devil u know than the angel u don't know"
Change is good but one should avoid drastic change and instead try changing habits gradually.I think time was dr nimco's enemy here, and certainly her idea was far ahead of her time.

How on earth will the average dubai citizen relate to this islands?Maybe by bragging about the fact that their country doesn't have a hospital that comes anything close to Mayo clinic.By the way the University of Minnesota which provides research facilities for Mayo clinic has annual budget of $2billion.I guess this is where progressive minded pple spend their money and see results by counting the number of life saving procedures done by the institution.

U know u have the money and u know its yours,but u can't withdraw the 19 dollars, simply because the stup!d ATM won't give out any bills less than $20.the same thing with afemale friend,she is sitting in u'r car and u can't even look at her directly in the eye.
