  1. agreed hanuun. It's sad that soma somalis have been carried away by them, It's sad,
  2. http://www.wardheernews.com/articles/November/26_ONLF_Ayuub.html Intresting article... What do you think about it? Has the ONLF failed the somalis? It just seems to me that the ONLF have further divided the somalis in soomaligalbeed. Instead of taking a uniting name the jabhad took a a very very disputed name. It's even forbidden to mention it here... ****** NATIONAL LIBERATION FRONT? A fatal mistake by the organisation. That mistake led them to failure.
  3. I strongly dis agree that somalis "migrated" from the arabian pennensula. Somalis are people of cushitic origin, They migrated from lake tana before the axumites pushed the south. Actuall history does not have to be acording to what myth says.
  4. Salam-alaykom, I hope that you all are doing. Recent weeks I've had some doubts about how islam is practised (not about the actuall faith) It's good that somalis are 99% muslims alhamdululah, It's really a gift from God. I would say that somalis are good people. But There is a problem with them. I often feel that hypcrosy not in the form that somone have doubts about islam, But that somalis practise the rituals of islam but not the most important thing---- Morality. I recently, Went to Ethiopia or (soomali galbeed) I went there as a voluntary working for the red half moon (red cross) distrubating food. I found it astonishing that more then 90% of the people would pray. After prayer they would kill each other? Maybe these things are common to all people. But one thing that is specefic to somalis is that culture has been mixed with religion. Take this example for, I came back to the comfofrtable europe. you After my journey back to europe I went to pray in a local mosque. I went in I greeted the people. I found the old people that I used to hang around with. The bearded guys and shortend trousers. After the prayers the somalis would meet and the man with the beard would openly say " war reer hebel yaan ka dilnay xalay" It was shocking for me. If you go to local somali cafetrias you would find somali "fadhi-ku dirir". a Place were politics and somali politics is alomost related to clanism. You would find those who say "we killed this and that". They are in the first row to pray. It's a fact. Many somalis pray. This made me thinking. Rituals are not important, Rituals are for showing the impact the faith has upon you. If you look upon it, Somalis are strict with religous rules, When you listen to music, Instatnly a somali would say "it's haram to listen to music", And when clapping a dog" They would almost scream.. But It's completly halal to lie to the government to get insurance and social wellfare. It's completly halal for them to not say they are not married when they are. It's also halal to be in the clan, working against other clans. It's also halal to send money to the clan so they can buy weapons with it". The most important thing have gone, Being compassionate, Being humble, Being in good aqlaaq, And by aqlaak I' mean manners. When I became 18, I became member of red cross and the green party, Becouse I wanted to help starving people, The somalis saw that I was on televsion a couple of times and they instantly bullied me. I dont know, Did they see me as a gaal becouse I wanted to help people? What are they doing for the starving people, What are they doing for working a world without war and nuclear weapons? I also compared the somalis and the eurpoeans, I found that the eurpoeans have better morals. They dont lie, They respect you. Ofcourse There are also some good apsects of somali culture, They are very talkative and socially good. It has gone now 8 months since I prayed in a mosque, I've taken that desicion in my lifem, To never pray in a mosque with false people whom prey on each other. Thats what I wanted to share with you guys. have you felt like this?
  5. Originally posted by Modesty: As'Salaamu Alaykum, Going to many Islamic conventions, I hardly find any somali scholars lecturing. It's always the usual arab-pakistani imaams. Even visiting many Islamic websites, I only find articles and books written by arab-pakistani scholars, but never any written by Somalis..are regular African muslims for that matter (with the exception of Egyptians). Do you like nasheeds? I do too, but are there any somali nasheeds? Nope! Also, the lack of knowledge in the deen is very apparent in our culture, with the exception of the burqa...it seems like hijab is the only part we got right, alhamdulilah. Maybe being a people without a functioning government for the past 15 years is what made us lag behind...Allahu Musta3an. I just feel so sad about the whole situation. Well, They are everywhere, Islam is a religion mr modesty, Not an nationality. You'll find somali islamic speakers in religious circles for somalis. It's very easy, You'll find turkish imams in lectures in turkish language. There are not somali nasheeds? Well, There are many. But not "arab" styles. There are thousands of songs that praise Allah and his prophet. Kaban style. It's sad that somali youth is drawn to "arab islamism". It's a trend going on in the somali society. If you see the turks, They have Islam, They are Sonnis, But no, They are not trend followers as the somalis. A couple of a weeks ago, There was in our universaty an incident I'll never forget. I walked in the hall And I saw a man wearing and arabic dress, He approeached me and said "salam-alaykom" "kayf xaalak". I responded back calaykom salam, I'am fine alxamdululah what about you". You know, I wonderd to my self, If the guy has somekind of an identity crisis? I pray 5 salat, I spend often in our local mosque and drink coffe, But Why do I have to arabise me? Thats some thoughts I had on these people, Al-itixaad people, I'll open a topic on this.
  6. It's sad this is happening in a muslim countrey. May God guide them
  7. Good topic "duke"? When I reflect upon somali history it it becomes clear to me that they are indeed an ancient people, They have to had an important part of history. The Somalis are people of cushitic-caucasian origin. Though Somalis have interacted with the arabs for thousands years they are distant relatives of the arabs. The tales in somali mythology of an arab "shaykh" coming to somalia is simply not true. There might have existed arab minorities they fled to somalia and became part of the somali clan system. They infact became the clan system. As I understood it, Somalis are cushitetes, Belonging to the greater term "hamites". Though this term have been disputed the name "cush" simply means the son noah's son had- that son name was "cush". The ancient cushites were the founders of the egyptian civilisation, Before our cousins "semtites" son of sam conqouerd arabia the cushites were the inhabitants of southern arabia. Please correct me if I'am wrong
  8. Originally posted by koolkooliye Aw-Jaamac Janogale: Bismillaah Ahmed-Fiqi, your accusation of ONLF to be impediment to the Struggle is preposterous to say the least. Your accusation is all too familiar, clanist man’s argument. If you honestly believe that ONLF is a clan based org., why cannot you established your own Ahmed_Fiqi front and then we can come under one umbrella? Oh no, you’re a minority and even then, will be marginalized by the “Oâ€! ONLF is the only hope for that part of the Horn and for you to ask to dismantle it while you are NOT doing anything to further the cause is unfair and insulting. Maybe the reasons why ONLF failed to mobilize (if it did) the Somalis is because of you seeing everything in clan eye lens and view things in qabiil perspective. Maybe its because of you having a Somali blood, but wayone’s ideology. Maybe the guy I see in Tigrey’s malatia’s uniforms, maiming Somali children, mothers, fathers, and sisters is you or maybe you’re not actually in wayone’s uniforms but just helping them and that’s why I called you “Daba-Qoodhiâ€. Hada ka hor ayaan ninbaa wuxuu yiri, guduney, badhkey ayaa kugu jire e, maadan igoyseen. You alluded that ONLF consist only members from the “O†tribe, and we both know that’s rubbish. I will give you names (ONLF members; non-“Oâ€, of course in private) once you clarify this qabiil name you using as a SOL screen name(Ahmed_Fiqi), they might be your own tribe and I hope that will make you eat your own words. Dadka waxaa uguxun nin aan walaalkii wax uquudhin isaguna aan meel iska soosaarin!! As I see it the "****** National Liberation Front" have failed to rally the somali masses behind it's cause. The ONLF was created 20 years ago, Yes you heart it right, It was created in 1984 by Somali rebels. It's been fighting the Ethiopian government for 20 years, Yet it has Failed. There are many reasons for it's failure, But one main point is that the ONLF is today regarded as another clanist organisation that fights for it's clans total domination of soomaligalbeed. You know, When I think about it, The white man that fought his way to somalil inhabited were cruel evil people, You might be suprised that I understood it to day, When the Eurpean colonialists arrived in soomaligalbeed they made local meetings with somali tribes men, The O-clan. (I doubt know if it is forbidden to say teh names of the clans) They renamed the entire somaligalbeed the disputed name of "******". Though many somali diffirent clans that do not identify themlseves as "******is" live in soomaligalbeed. Acording to staticts 50% are non-******i somalis. By pursuing "******ism" the ONLF has realy failed to get the support of the somalis. I have been to jigjiga, Dire dawa, And Harar, I thought there would be massive suppotrt to the ONLF. In dire dawa, I was at a local hottel, I have to say that dire dawa is and harar are one of teh beutifull somali towns I have set my foot in. At the hotell I went to the local "fadhi-ku-dirir cafe". Somali politics was usally the subject everyone spoke about. The people there rejected the ONLF openly, There were some who supported it, But they were few, In harar, The case was same, In Jigjiga, They were themselves divided. The ONLF understood that this would be a severe problem so they appointed non-******is to posts within the ONLF. Despite the new efforts by the ONLF to project itself as a clanfree organisation it's still an old clanbased organisation that is doomed to fail. Personally, I seek the freedom and indpendence of Soomalugalbeed. But I doubt that the somalis will unite when the whole political organisation is named after a clan. Even the somali jabhads were clever then the ONLF. The USC, Was clanbased, But celervly hid it by taking pan somali name "united somali congress". Same with SNM, SSDF, SPM, and many more. An example that that ONLF is clan based, If you live abroad, Please go to the local ONLF meeting, All of them will be from the same clan. To end with, I honestly pray for the freedom for all somalis living under colonisation. Ps: Axmed fiqi was a leganderay somali-mullah poet that fought with the derviches against the british. It's defintly not qabil related bro.
  9. salams, I hope all of you are in good faith. I want tell you gusy that somaliweyn was a dream built upon love between the somalis, it was honestlty a dream of "wanaag" as we call in it somali. I myself is not from Somaliland, But If they want to be a part of somaliweyn what can we do? We cant force them. And what would it be good for if they are a part of somaliweyn when they really dont want. I strongly belive that somaliland should be recognised, They are truly suffering becouse of us. Maybe, After they have become indpendent,And the south have become a "nation" maybe then we'll start loving each other join unity with each other just as we did in 1960, an era full of love and wanaag. 15 years is a lot of time, We have one of the deadlist civil wars in the world, We are worse then the afghani civil war becouse we have become so disintegrated. It's sad really. Nabbada gurida waa Nabada dunida (peace at home, peace in the world)
  10. We really do not need any more violence and war, I truly belive that Somali people have foregin enemies, Nobody would belive that the Somali civil war would be at this state, Somali society so disintegrated, Kismaayo is peace at now, No more violence. What is there to fight for, ? Nabad gurriga waa Nabada Dunida
  11. The sadest case in the world is somalia. A nation of collapse and chaos. It's so sad really. Somaliweyn was a dream of wanaag and jacayl. Brotherhood the somalis of the horn of africa felt for each other. Many intlectualls allways said that the idea of somaliweyn would ultimatly be the reason we would be destroyed. It seems they are right. Somalia is totaly in disintegrated, Bunch of Lands can claim to be sovergin but is total dependant on other somali "lands". regarding Somalilands, I as a southerner Dont have any problem with them becoming an indpendent countrey. We cant force people to be part of somalia. Somalia was created for somalis to have love for and desire, not be forced to, Maybe one day after southern somalia becomes stable and somaliland will unite, Just as Northern Yemen did with South Yemen? Peace at Home, Peace to the World (Nabadda guriga, Nabadda Dunida)
  12. It's sad that anyone have to die. Crimes against humanity is something that we should never accept, Weather it is carried out against muslims or non-muslims. Somaligalbeed is 100% somali, It has no ethnic, religous nor does it have historical relationship with ethiopia. It's sad that they are being denied freedom. But One reason fro sure that the somalis are unable to break awau from ethiopia is the ONLF. The onlf is suposed to be an pan-somali front But It failed to mobilise the somalis. Some somalis in who are not from ****** NATIONAL LIBERATION FRONT view the front as an clanist organisation. It's sad. My advice to the somalis in soomaligalbeed is stop being clanist, And have Faith in god.
