You say you have spoken to the people who live in this region but I am sure you haven't talked to all 600 000 of them.
The point i'm trying to make here is that not everyone or 99.9% of people have the same opinion. Such figures exist only in Barre's Somalia where 99% vote for him. What you should do is say your opinion but you can't talk for other people that isn't fair to them, now is it?

Guraad, are you speaking for all of them people or what. I think in reality the region is split between punt, sland, and the republic, and ofcourse, there are some who want a seperate state.

definately a BAD move, especially in these times of uncertainty as to whether the somali nation will split up or stay united ... but one suggestion for dhiigshiil though, why not make the 26th of june a holiday in the north and keep july 1st as a holiday in the south... or make both days a holiday.
in my opinion both days should be a holiday in all of somalia whether one country or more!

There should be a limit to how qabiil is discussed but there's no reason whatsoever to cencor out qabiil names.
A person should be able to mention etc in their posts, as long as no qabil is being disrespected.

The rest I agree but Ethiopia …nah. Their troops cross into Somali territory everyday. Trust me Zenawi might pretend to be concerned for Somalia but he rather see it dismantled. If he could, he would have recognized Sland a long time ago.

Attaining recognition isn’t as hard as it seems but Somaliland can’t get it. If the leaders of sland are serious about recognition, then why aren’t they making any noise to achieve their goal. The reality of this matter is that they are waiting for the South to get its act together, then to to join as one somalia.

I haven’t been to sool recently as I have said. However, I have family going there and coming back all the time. Trust me they do keep me posted about the situation there. Secondly, I do have a common sense that says two people don’t think alike let alone the half a million people living in north central somalia. Therefore, for you to claim that all of the population in this region has the same loyalties is absurd. Why do you need to know about my relatives in lasanod anyways? What does that have to do with this discussion?

I am not a seperatist. I believe in a United Somalia as well, however, I’m not overwelmed by emotions and seek to face the facts. There is no such a thing as 90% of people believing in the same and it’s is totally wrong for you to speak on their behalf if you are not a PERMANENT RESIDENT!
Having said all that:
Next time that you are there in las anod do me a favor and ask the hardliners who believe in a united somalia to tell you about their background. Did they grow up in Xamar livin’ large under the former regime? Do they have any villas in Xamar that they need to go back to?
And ask the minority that want to join sland whether they have ever left the region to live in the capital city (Xamar).
ps and pay attention to their accent, especially the younger generation, this can explain a lot, you know.
