  1. Do you even know Beledweyne? Howl Wadaag is one district of the many, certainly not 50% of the city. First learn the city before you talk about its composition/structur e.
  2. As I said earlier, spreading propaganda from the website called ''jaallesiyaad''. Why else would Cumar refer to ''Jaallesiyaad''? That alone shows that it is a poor attempt by the Siyaadists to distort history. PS: The dark legacy of the dictator is well-documented, so a simple website can not change that dark legacy.
  3. As for pre-Siad era, The SYL government launched a 5 year development plan in 1963, and a 2 year short-term development plan. In the first 5 year plan: - 7% of total planned expenditure to development of the livestock sector (very low figure considering the fact that above 80% of Somali people are dependent on the livestock sector for their livelihoods but the government placed its focus on manufacturing and trade) - New research projects, well defined program aiming at improvement of animal husbandry and sedentarisation of nomads. - In the pastoral sector, the Livestock Development Agency was formed in 1965-66 - Provision of water and veterinary services, and adequate marketing facilities and transportation services to increase tradable fraction of herds. - Development of large areas of land for agricultural production (large state farms at Tugwajaleh and Jilib) - Increase of sugar output through expansion of productive capacity of Jowhar sugar factory. - Development of meat packing, fish processing, milk and dairy products, textiles and a few other industries. - Construction and improvement of a number of roads - Building three seaports at Kismanyo, Berbera, and Mogadishu. To make up for delays in implementation, Government launches in 1968 a two-year Short-Term Development Programme. Which is: ''the consolidation of the work of the First Five-Year Plan and the creation of basic conditions necessary for the formulation and implementation of future development programmes of a more ambitious nature'' Also, the most important achievement of the first civilian government was the creation and modernization of the first Somali army. the first civilian government achieved to get a grant from the Soviet Union of $32 million, to modernize the Somali army and expand it to 14.000 personnal. This grant was later increased to $55 million. Besides this the Soviet Union also provided Somalia during the 60s with a substantial number of T-34 tanks, armored personnel carriers, MiG-15 and MiG-17 aircraft, small arms, and ammunition. Approximately 300 Soviet military advisers deployed to Somalia to train the army, and about 500 Somali pilots, officers, and technicians received training in the Soviet Union. (see Library of Congress, country study: Somalia) Eventually the institution (army and police) that the first civilian government created and modernized to defend the nation from Ethiopian aggression seized power. Conclusion: I am not argueing here that the military regime did nothing for Somalia, since that would be an obvious lie and distortion of history. Afterall, the military regime ruled the country for 21 years and had popular support in its first decade. In this first decade there was development and progress under the rule of the military junta. What I am discussing are the blatant lies spread by Siyaadists in which they want to create a fairytale history of ''Jaalle Siyaad'' building Somalia from scratch and been the benevolent leader that modernized Somalia. In this Propaganda campaign, they spread all kinds of lies like for example: ''he built 90% of all infrastructure, he built most mosques etc etc.''. As long as propagandists spread their lies to distort and change the dark legacy Siad Barre left, I will present the other side of the story and tackle misinformation spread by these propagandists.
  4. ^^ I never said that the military regime did none, I only pointed out to the crazy Propaganda that some spread and argue that he built 90% of the infrastructure of the country. In the 21 years of the military regime there was development, and most of that development was in the early days namely: 1969-1977. Also, many projects were started during 1960-1969 and some were finished with others been delayed due to the mismanagment going on in the SYL government. The military regime had a military method of tackling problems, which explains the decesiveness and discpline with which the projects were completed. But to give credit solely to the military regime is telling a half-story.
  5. Silly Siyaadist Propaganda. That video proves nothing, its a simple informative material for those with no knowledge about Somalia: Western audience. Those who have basic knowledge of Somalia and its history know how things really went. As for your information: - The old port of Mogadishu was built by the Italian adminstration. -The new port of Mogadishu was built during the SYL government rule. -The airport and port of Hargaisa were built before the SYL government, and were later expanded during the SYL government. - The port of Kismaanyo was built during 1960-1969, later expanded by UNISOM post-1991. -The airports were built before the coup. As for factories: The sugar factory in Jowhar was built before the coup, the meat factory in Kismaanyo before the coup, most of the factories in Mogadishu were built or under construction before the coup. What the military junta did was to claim the work of others. Most factories that were under construction during 1964-1969 were completed after 1970, and as a consequence the military junta lay claim to it, and took all credit. History is written, no silly propaganda from jaallesiyaad website can change what has been written by multiple academic and news sources.

Even daring by venturing to quote the Quraanka Kariimka, about evidence and the truth. I don't care about what else you are trying to feed on SOL, but Isbaheysiga, sadly for a Siyaadist propagandist, was not built by him. It was built by for Sacuudi money. Qof walba baa og. That masaajid and the avenue that intercrosses where it is located at, Jidka Maka Almakurama too. And about other masaajido being built, his regime has nothing do with it. It was demanded by and built by xaafado communities in the ever-expanding Muqdisho of '70s. The growing population demanded it and it was a natural recourse to happen. What else would the propagandist credit to him again? That he built the National Theatre as well, the long road isku wada xirtay from gobollada dhexe to Waqooyi Bari? These silly propaganda may fool those nomads that arrived in Mogadishu after 1970s but the ones who have lived in that city know what was before the coup and after the coup. There is much more Propaganda that was spread, here are few of them: - Mogadishu had 2 roads before the coup. FALSE - Siad Barre built Mogadishu port, the north-south highway, the port of Kismaanyo, the one of bosaso, the one of Hargeisa. In short, he built all infrastructure in Somalia. FALSE - The military regime eradicated clannism, nepotism and corruption. FALSE. - The military regime made Somalia self-reliant and truelly independent from foreign powers. FALSE. - The military regime and its leader Siad Barre did not want to stay in power, but were forced by the clannist uprisings. FALSE. he lead a revolution that turned that dusty corner of africa into a self-sufficient nation. Thats why Somalia went from ´´Scientific Socialism´´ to ´´IMF-ism´´. If that is what you understand under ´´self-sufficient´´ then yeah, he made us ´´self-sufficient´´.
  8. It is truelly inspiring to see these young men and women educating themselves amids a war between religious pretenders and foreign-created regime. 11. Congratulations to the democratically elected Palastinian Islamic party of Hamas! They should defeat the religious pretenders who are linked to AL Qaida and want to highjack the legitimate cause of the Palestinians! In Somalia too, we should be aware of religious pretenders who are linked to Al Qaida and want to highjack our legitimate struggle to unify and pacify our country. We should never allow our national struggle and cause to be turned into a global struggle and cause, i.e creating safe haven and training bases for Al Qaida and International-Jihadi st with global ambitions. Hamas has cracked down on al-Qaeda-inspired groups in the past, the BBC's Middle East correspondent Katya Adler says. Again, congratulations to the popular elected Hamas for dealing swiftly with these religious pretenders with links to Al-Qaida.

  16. Dukey, Like Garowe fabricated the myth that the wadaado were slain by Ahlu Sunnah? Or like the fact that no PL website is reporting the fighting in Gaalkacyo. Dont wish clan animosity for Somali people. What happened in Mogadishu is just a conflict between two despicable warlords and their illdiscplined militia. No clans involved, sorry to dissapoint you.

  19. Fabregas, Do you support the destruction of the Somali environment and the export of charcoal? A simple YES or NO please.
  20. What peace and stability? What we have witnessed in the region so far is: Oppression of the people in the city, stoning to death 13 year old girl, beheading of a known man (who was accused of working with Hiiraale), exportation of charcoal, destruction of ancient mosques and tombs. The alliance of the religieus pretenders and the way they divide the income generated from the key resources in the region also brings back to memory the JVA alliance and their income-sharing arrangements.
  21. http://www.xamarcade .com/viewpage.php?pa ge_id=138 See it on video. The religious pretenders and their admin in Kismaanyo are no better than the previous JVA alliance. Destroying the beautiful nature of Jubba regions and exporting the dhuxul to finance their criminal entreprise. Again, what makes the current alliance of religieus pretenders and their explotation of the key resources in the region (export of charcoal, ''taxation'' of imports, exports and car traffic) any different than the previous alliance of political pretenders (JVA)?
  22. There is no clan fighting Dukey, you love to spread Propaganda and instigate clan animosity amongst Somalis. Those that fought are militiamen loyal to two warlords who are linked to the foreign-created regime.
  23. Originally posted by Torres: quote: Somalia: The Trouble with Puntland Africa Briefing N°64 12 August 2009 OVERVIEW The semi-autonomous north-eastern Somali region of Puntland, once touted as a success of the “building blocks” approach to reestablishing national stability and widely viewed as one of the most prosperous parts of Somalia, is experiencing a three-year rise in insecurity and political tension. At its roots are poor governance and a collapse of the intra-clan cohesion and pan-****** solidarity that led to its creation in 1998. Intra-****** friction has eroded the consensual style of politics that once underpinned a relative stability. The piracy problem is a dramatic symptom of deeper problems that, left untreated, could lead to Puntland’s disintegration or overthrow by an underground militant Islamist movement. A solution to the security threat requires the Puntland government to institute reforms that would make it more transparent and inclusive of all clans living within the region. Puntland’s founding a decade ago was an ambitious experiment to create from the bottom up a polity that might ultimately offer a template for replication in the rest of the country, especially the war-scarred south. But Puntland is no longer a shining example, and its regime is in dire straits, with most of the blame resting squarely on the political leadership. In a major shift from the traditional unionist position officially adopted in 1998, an important segment of the *****ten elite is pushing for secession. If a wide variety of grievances are not urgently tackled in a comprehensive manner, the consequences could be severe for the whole of Somalia and the Horn of Africa. The new president, Abdirahman Farole, and his government promise many reforms and say they will eradicate piracy in “a matter of months”. Since the beginning of April 2009, there has been a crackdown on the gangs; a few members have been put on trial and sentenced to long jail terms; and the security forces have raided suspected hideouts. These measures alone are likely not enough, however, to cope with an entrenched criminal enterprise. Criminal gangs in Puntland are involved not only in piracy, but also in other illicit activities, including arms trafficking, kidnapping and the smuggling of both people and contraband. There is evidence of state complicity, and doubts remain that the government has the political will to move against the powerful gangs, since that could spark fighting between sub-clans. Officials know this and are prioritising what they call a wa’yigelin (sensitisation campaign) rather than use of force. Clan elders and clerics are talking to youth groups in coastal villages about the immorality and dangers of piracy, but the practice is widely tolerated and even described as a response to the “plunder” of Somalia’s marine resources and the reported dumping of toxic waste on its shores. Youth unemployment, poverty and worsening living conditions fuel the problem. The government must take advantage of the piracy-driven international attention to mobilise funds and expertise to carry out comprehensive political, economic and institutional reforms that address the fundamental problems of poor governance, corruption, unemployment and the grinding poverty in coastal villages. The international community needs to refocus on the long-term measures without which there can be no sustainable end to that practice or true stability. Equipping and training a small coast guard is obviously a necessary investment, but so too are other steps, such as to improve the general welfare and help impoverished fishing communities. International partners should encourage and support the government of Puntland to do the following: * suspend implementation of the new constitution and redraft it in a more inclusive process involving consultation with civil society and key clan stakeholders, as well as expert help to meet international standards; * draw up and implement a credible security sector reform strategy with input from domestic stakeholders and foreign experts, key elements of which should include civilian oversight and professionalisation of the state security agencies, and recast the general amnesty for pirates who surrender so leaders and their financial backers do not have impunity to enjoy their profits; * implement comprehensive electoral reform, including an independent electoral commission whose members come from all clans, are endorsed by the elders and parliament and enjoy secure tenure and autonomy; an independent cross-clan committee of experts to redraw parliamentary boundaries; and a special court to handle election petitions and arbitrate disputes; * set up an independent anti-corruption authority competent to investigate and prosecute officials; * open serious talks with Somaliland, the Transitional Federal Government (TFG) and clan elders in the Sool and Sanaag regions, and if necessary seek external arbitration to determine the final status and ownership of the disputed territories; and * build consensus around these measures by convening a region-wide conference of clan elders, political leaders and civil society groups, modelled on the 1998 Garowe Conference that launched the Puntland experiment. http://www.crisisgro up.org/home/index.cf m?id=6264 The time of the publication is interesting. It was released today, amids a wave of insecurity.
  24. Somali Islamists pull teeth from "sinners"-residents Al Shabaab pull out teeth in line with strict Islamic law * Resident says teeth removed by masked man By Abdi Sheikh MOGADISHU, Aug 10 (Reuters) - Somali Islamist group al Shabaab is forcibly removing gold and silver teeth from residents in southern Somalia because it says they contravene strict religious law, locals from a coastal town said on Monday. Residents in Marka say al Shabaab has been rounding up anyone seen with a silver or gold tooth and taking them to a masked man who then rips them out using basic tools. "I never thought al Shabaab would see my denture as a sin. They took me to their station and removed my silver tooth," resident Bashir told Reuters. "In the station, I met several men and women whose dentures were being pulled out by a masked man they called a doctor. The doctor used a pincer or his gloved hand depending on the strength of the tooth," Bashir said . "As you smile your silver tooth accuses you. I was at a counter with my friend when three armed al Shabaab ordered me to follow them," he added. "I am afraid they want to make money from taking all this precious metal." Al Shabaab officials declined to comment. The Islamist group says the gold and silver teeth are used for fashion and beauty, which is against strict interpretations of Islam, residents told Reuters. Al Shabaab, which means "Youth" in Arabic, is an al Qaeda-inspired militant group that has taken control of large swathes of south and central Somalia. The group's hardline interpretation of Islamic law has shocked many Somalis, who are traditionally more moderate Muslims. Some residents, however, give the insurgents credit for restoring order to the regions under their control. In June, al Shabaab officials in one of the group's Mogadishu strongholds ordered four teenagers to each have a hand and a foot cut off as punishments for robbery. (Writing by Jeremy Clarke; Editing by Alison Williams) -------------------- -------------------- --------- This is pure theft, why would a ''doctor'' wear a mask when pulling out the golden and silver teeth? Ever since the extremists are faced with bankruptcy they are getting more desperate.
