  1. Took this a while back but I think its almost completed. Hargesia Theatre.
  2. lol@adam 'model minorities' - how can Somalis ever emulate Indians when we have different political, social, cultural trajectories. Indians, unlike Somalis are not from a post-conflict and semi-nomadic countries. they've adjusted fine to the pressures of modernity in all its complexities.
  3. Going to the livestock market will only allow you to get more in 'touch' with your nomadic background. it should be on the itinerary list of any self-respecting, self-curing individual on a cultural detox programme. I, on other hand, though self-respecting, didn't feel the short trip to the livestock would put me in touch with anything - both imaginary or real.

I didst expect to find a job the next morning so it kinda threw me off and messed up my ME time, I walked passed the presidents house though and some of the wasaardo but no other tourist thing. Yiiks. Alhumdulilah though I'm sure I would've been bored by now. lol@IBZ, I wouldn't notice you if you had a ''look at me'' sign on your abaya!

I hear you lose ten pounds on the first day, lol, is this true for you travelers? Third world? do you even understand the exact meaning of the term? Make your own food and drink bottle water? you've never been outside of philly have you?
  6. half london buu deeganyahay. i'm not surprised too. its shameful.
  7. lol@NG. might as well somaha. i hear ear wax is rife among buracawis. i'm settled here and have no intention of ever coming back to the WEST.
  8. Archdemos;718353 wrote: Welcome back Ibti, you in dusty SL for business or pleasure? Alpha theres not much to do in SL, besides working and travelling and after a while it’s incredibly boring. Sightseeing consists of waking up at dawn to witness the camel herders taking their livestock to market. Annoying intrusive neighborhood goats. Only excitement of the day consists of the so-called traffic police stopping you for a bribe on your way to work. I wonder what his excuse will be today. Tea, jaad, milk money for baby have all been used. Even when I had my driving license and vehicle logbook, I would be routinely stopped. SL, land of a warm friendly and patriotic people mired by the disease that is Qabil. pathetic, pathetic and pathetic! archy, your not writing an academic review. easy on the essentialist undertones and caricaturing Somaliland and its people. you've clearly never seen the trendier sides of town. of course, i suspect you were there for two weeks on a cultural crash-course.

  10. IBZ, Dial room service and I'll be sent to you wrapped in cotton wool.

You see it exactly this voyeuristic mindset, that really upsets me. I mean, what did you expect IBZ? I would prefer it very much if you stop labelling people and interacted a little more with your surrounding. find purpose in everything you do. don't you dare think that you can come here and categories people with you lack of knowledge of local customs and ways of living. I've decided unless you change your negativity, I will not meet you. God, imagine the public outrage you'd cause.
  12. lol@nuune. if thats the case. what's the name of the guy who takes peoples orders?
  13. Hargeisa Zoo is one of the tourist things to do in Hargesia as advertised on Lonely Plant. There isn't much to see here. There are three lions, a lioness, a lynx and two falcons (in cages too). Admission is relatively cheap @ 4000SLSH. The fences of the cages are dangerously on the verge of collapsing. I got to stroke the lions and play with them, of course from afar and with a stick behind the zoo warden and group of local feral kids.

  16. This is Safari Hotel. Its classy and the service is amazing. Its on Jigjiga Yar road from down-town. You can have some of the most amazing food in all of Somaliland in this joint. Its not as pretentious as other place in Somaliland and its not frequented by 'hip' crowds like JB. You can usually find me there on Wednesday Nights.
  17. mr melancholic get real. I feel like slapping you with a wet fish repeatedly.
  18. This is where I have at least one of my meals a day. Its local and has a family feel to it. Its owned by my honorary uncle (Aftax). I'm treated like a celebrity in this fabulous eatery.
  19. With summer just around the corner, I'm sure many of you are contemplating the thought of making a pilgrimage to the mother-land. Already, we've been taken over by an influx of bad cultured, so called ''deqan celis',' westerners. I haven't made an a major opinion on these people yet but they seem to do predictable things like going down-town Hargeisa, basking in the glory that they are from 'THE WEST'. If you want a more exciting and all purpose guide to the trendy scenes in Somaliland. I will update this thread to share my experiences and advice. JB, you can also add the occasionally info but its my thread so please refrain from over-contributing to it. cheers.
  20. Good Morning All. Its a beautiful day isn't?
  21. these islamo-fascist thugs are the scum of the earth. they're all unemployed and have no sense of duty to the UK. you cant bite the hand that feeds. the UK authorities should deal with these individuals accordingly. thats to deport them and cleanse the streets and so-called muslim-ghettos of this vermin.
