  2. We Are Winning the War on Terrorism in Horn of Africa The threat is from violent extremists who are a small minority of the world's 1.3 billion Muslims, the threat is real. They distort Islam. They kill man, woman and child; Christian and Hindu, Jew and Muslim. They seek to create a repressive caliphate. To defeat this enemy, we must understand who we are fighting against, and what we are fighting for.
  3. Al-Shabaab's Kismayo Commissioner Terrorist Sheikh Hassan Yacqub told al-Shabaab run radio station, Al Andalus, that there were casualties sustained by his group, but stressed that al-Shabaab will withstand any foreign threat. A terrified resident in Khandal itself told our correspondent that a plane had been flying over the area since yesterday in a suspected reconnaissance mission. “I am shocked that this big thing happened. What I can see are al-Shabaab fighters everywhere in the city. Everyone remained indoors, terrified,” a local women told terrer free somalia. Khandal has been a key hiding and training point for the militants, particularly foreign fighters, due to its strategic location. MOGADISHU (tf.sf)— Huge explosions were heard early Thursday near the southern Somali town of Kismayo, followed by the sound of aircraft, a local elder and an Islamist official said."We heard huge explosions. Then a few minutes later we heard the sound of aircraft. We are not yet sure what it was," Abdulahi Ise, the elder, said.He added that the explosions came early in the morning in the area of Qandal, a few kilometres outside Kismayo, a port town controlled by Al-Qaeda linked Shebab Islamists.A Shebab official in the Kismayo area said his men had reported an aerial bombing raid on a Shebab base."The military aircraft of the enemy carried out an aerial bombardment on a base where some mujahedeen fighters were staying. Initial reports indicate several mujahedeen fighters including muhajirs (foreigners) died," the official said, refusing to be named. "We believe the aircraft belonged to the US," he added. The United States has in the past few years launched several raids on Somalia, targeting senior regional Al-Qaeda figures. In January 2007 a US air raid left dozens of people dead at Ras Kamboni in the far south of Somalia. It was coupled with a second raid 155 kilometres further north. One of the presumed targets of those raids was Al-Qaeda's chief in east Africa Fazul Abdullah Muhammad, who was gunned down earlier this month in a shootout at a roadblock in Mogadishu after he made a wrong turn.Fazul was believed to be behind the August 1998 embassy bombings in Nairobi and Dar es Salaam, the worst attack by Al-Qaeda until the September 2001 attacks on the United States. In March 2008 the US military said it fired at least one cruise missile into Somalia, targeting an Al-Qaeda leader.Reports from Mogadishu said that strike killed at least 10 people, including an Al-Qaeda military leader Aden Hashi Ayro.Ayro trained with Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan and had been linked to the deaths of foreign aid workers in Somalia. He is also thought to have been a target of the 2007 US air strikes. Another senior Al-Qaeda figure in the region, the Kenyan Saleh Ali Saleh Nabhan, wanted for the 2002 attacks on Iraeli targets on the Kenyan coast, was killed in September 2009 in another US raid on south Somalia. In November 2002, Al-Qaeda killed 15 people when gunmen led by Nabhan attacked the Israeli-owned Paradise Hotel in Mombasa and fired two missiles at an Israeli charter airliner in Kenyan airspace the same night, missing it. Outgoing CIA chief Leon Panetta, who is poised to become the next US defense secretary, said earlier this month that the Shebab were looking to extend their operations and carry out attacks abroad. "The threat from Al-Shebab to the US and Western interests in the Horn of Africa and to the US homeland is significant and on the rise," Panetta said in written responses to the Senate Armed Services committee. "Al-Shebab leaders, who have claimed affiliation with Al-Qaeda since 2007, are developing ties with Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, and are showing an increasing desire to stage international terrorist attacks in addition to their acts of violence inside Somalia," he said in a written text. The Shebab still control most of south and central Somalia and roughly half of the capital Mogadishu despite gains in recent months by the African Union AMISOM forces that are propping up the transitional government the Shebab are trying to topple. 4. Reports from the small coastal village of Khandal, about 8 kms west of Kismayo, indicate that a suspected U.S. plane or drone launched missiles Thursday against an Islamist training camp 10km south of Kismayo as well as an area where where several foreign jihadist fighters were embarking on a boat on their way to an unknown destination. Kismayo residents told tf.sf that the first attack targeted the camp south of Kismayo this afternoon while a second attack was launched this evening against a target near Kismayo airport. It is yet unclear whether the attack hit its targets or not, but residents who requested anonymity told a local journalist in Kismayo that they witnessed smoke in the air and heard planes flying throughout Thursday. In addition the witnesses said that three, 4-wheel drive pick up trucks with wounded al-Shabaab fighters were immediately taken to Kismayo and that the militants have imposed on an overnight curfew. “One attack happened around evening prayers around 7:00 to 8:00pm local time,” said Mohamed Mohamed, a Kismayo resident. He said that the operation resulted in scores of casualties including senior al-Shabaab militants in the area. “No one knows who was killed but there are serious casualties that I can confirm,” Mohamed said. “We heard this evening blasts in the airport area. After that al-Shabaab banned movements so now I’m in my house. I can’t go out because al-Shabaab militia have scattered all the streets,” said Abdisalaam, a resident in Kismayo. “I also heard that another airstrike happened on main training camp, 10 kilometer south of Kismayo,” added Abdisalaam. Al-Shabaab military officer in Kismayo confirmed the attack and told tf.sf that two of their soldiers was injured. “I believe the enemy of Allah shelled the Mujahedeen bases in Kismayo area using airplanes and two of the Mujahedeen were injured, but we did not suffer any casualties,” said the officer on condition of anonymity “ “It’s not the first time they shelled us, one, two, three, all the infidels of the world want to fight against us. They use airplanes, warships, and every thing they can, but Allah is with us so there is nothing they can do against us,” added the officer.

  6. I am somali I am strongly against foreign ideology on the matter of somalia. The root cause for the problem currently prevailing in somalia is al-qaeda. Al-qaeda uses divide rule and strategy to raise on somalia group an other group all somalis should know this strategy war. I propose for somalis to win Al-shabaab. (1) find common ground such as religion and language to get unified. (2) study their ideology and group structure in al-shabaab. this terrorist groups only want your death and no exixtance, so we have to target their leaders.
  7. al-shabaab fiiri gafuur duuba yaasha sxb they don't value human rights they don't have any regard to our people they don't diffirentiate ciyaalka, odayaasha, haweenka, culumada and the rest of the people. waxaasi madiinbaa?
  8. My points are also clear sxb what am simply saying is that those foreign elements within al-shabaab are the real obstacle to stability in Somalia. And you know foreign ideology will never suit somali interest. I ask them to leave our country our people alone. Somalis can solve their problems by themselves.

  11. Alshabaab carries out a barbaric war against the Somali people. However, among Somali Islamic scholars Alshabaab’s barbarism has nothing to do with promoting Sharia. Alshabaab screams about the presence of the African peacekeeping forces known as AMisom in Somalia, it [Alshabaab] parachutes foreign suicide bombers into Somalia. Sheikh Hassan Dahir Aweys, the leader of al-shabaab an ally of Alshabaab—unequivocally admits receiving support from Eritrea and foreign fighters. He states, "Eritrea supports us…there may be two or three Arabs who were moved by Islam to fight alongside us."Now don’t forget: many members of Alshabaab fighters are in fact from former warlords’ militias. In the past, some of these militias who currently call themselves Alshabaab raped Somali women and girls, looted businesses, and murdered countless innocent people in the name of defending not Islam or Somalia but the interest of their tribes. These gangs just changed shirts. In that case, shouldn’t Alshabaab’s Sharia applied to its members? Of course not, because Alshabaab zealots accept only the part of Islam that favours them. So be careful.

  16. Somalia’s opposition islamists on Friday declared their allegiance to Al-Qaeda’s newly named leader Dr. Ayman Al-Zahiri who takes over the authority of the group after the death of its former head Sheikh Osama Bin Laden.Speaking to an Islamist broadcaster, Radio Andulus, Al-Shabaab spokesman Mohamud Rage said they will support Dr. Al-Zawahiri like his predecessor Bin Laden."We are welcoming the naming of Dr. Al-Zawahiri, we are going to work with him like we used to work with Sheikh Osama. We will be fulfilling the promise and th agreements with the former leader which means supporting the new leader” Raage said The spokesman said Al-Shabaab fighters will stand by the new leader and give him the necessary support in order to realize their common objectives of spreading Islam.“This is a common cause; we will be working with the new leader of Al-Qaeda. We wish Al-Zawahiri all the best in this hard job that he must do for Muslims all over the world”Somalia’s Al-Shabaab fighters who control much of Southern Somalia have previously declared support for Bin Laden. The Somali group shares an array of ideological beliefs with Al-Qaeda including having the West as a common enemy to Islam and Muslims.Conflict and security analysts in this part of African have already hinted that Al-Shabaab will be supporting the new leader of the global islamist group.“Al-Zawahir was already their leader since he was the second in command. It is not a bolt from the blue to see Al-Shabaab supporting their new chief” said one analyst Al-Zawahiri an Egyptian physician has been the second in command for Al-Qaeda for so many years. This week, the group’s top brass named him as the official successor of Bin Laden.Zawahiri's succession was announced by al-Qaida's ruling council via the internet, six weeks after US Special Forces killed Bin Laden in a raid on a house in northern Pakistan.
  17. Somalia’s al Qaeda-inspired group on Thursday afternoon stoned a man to death after accusing him of committing rape, an official of the group said.Sharma’arke Abdullahi Mohamoud was killed in a square in the Mahas district of the Hiran region as hundreds of local inhabitants watched. An al Shabaab official said that an Islamic court had reached the decision after Mohammed confessed he had forcibly raped a young girl, Deqa Abdulle Nur.The official said the man was stoned because he committed the rape as a married man.An eyewitness said before the stoning was carried out, the convicted man was buried up to his head."He was screaming with blood flowing from his head as al Shabaab fighters hit his head with big stones. After several minutes his soul left and stopped moving," an eyewitness added in a translated interview.Generally, alleged spies and Christians have been publicly executed. Thieves have had their legs and hands cut off. Women accused of adultery have been beaten and stoned. In May, the hard-line militants executed two young Somalis accused of being spies in a southern Somalia town. war nimankan naxariis daranaa!!

  20. A rising dispute between militants in Somalia may have split the country's al-Qaida-linked al-Shabab group into two factions.the suicide bombing and innocent killing has convinced many ordinary Somalis that al-Shabab is increasingly being controlled by foreign fighters, who have no regard for Somali lives. The reason is because foreign al-Shabab commanders may have planned the mission without consulting some of their key Somali counterparts or receiving their endorsement. We have to be cautious for the killing of our innocent people.look what foreign terrorist and al-shabaab are doing into our own people.
  21. XX I know the reason ur defending him is because is ur uncle and you are personal assistant of Godane, both of you will have tragic end.Besides this is ur pcture waan ogahay in aad xirato indha shareer lakiin waalagu hayaa sxb.
  22. Somalia's Al Shabaab rebels said on Saturday they were behind the killing of Interior Minister Abdi Shakur Sheikh Hassan after they planted a bomb under his bed at his house in the capital Mogadishu. An Islamist forum website carried a message saying Al Shabaab movement had taken responsibility for the killing. "By the grace of God Almighty, the interior minister of the apostate government and its national security (interior) minister was killed in the afternoon on Friday...a bomb exploded planted by the mujahideen inside the home, specifically under his bed.Islamist Al Shabaab movement has claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it was part of their "holy war" against the Somali government and African Union peacekeepers.
