soldiers in the Canadian Airborne Regiment, part of a so-called "humanitarian" mission, beat a Somali teen to death. Some Canadians, rather than recognizing this as symptomatic of something deeper, dismissed the incident.

 

"They wanted to believe it was the case of a few bad apples," Geddes said.

Another woman was ordered by rebels to crawl on rocks until her knees were shredded to the bone. Then, on pain of death, she was forced to kill her husband as their children watched.

 

A doctor in Somaliland was thrown into solitary confinement for eight years. His crime? Volunteering to help in a hospital
