Somalia: Sh. Aweys meets with Egyptian intelligence chief

CAIRO, Egypt Nov 1 (Garowe Online) - The Islamic Courts’ Shura Chairman, Sheikh Hassan Dahir Aweys, is currently on a working visit to Cairo, Egypt.

 

 

 

Reliable sources have informed Garowe Online that Sheikh Aweys has met with Gen. Omar Suleiman, head of the Egyptian Intelligence Services, and the two discussed Somali affairs at length.

 

 

 

Unconfirmed reports say that the Somali Islamist delegation in Cairo gave Egyptian authorities “hard evidence” of Ethiopian troop positions inside Somalia.

 

 

 

Sheikh Aweys, leading an Islamist delegation, flew to Egypt unannounced last week, and it’s not clear whether or not they received an official invitation from the Egyptian government
