HARGEISA Learning Little: History of Capitulation to Addis Regime

Recommended Posts

Since the 9/11 self-destructive suicide missions began human rights situation in Somali ******ia has been deteriorating. Apparently, Ethiopia and its collaborators in the Region have stepped up their joint merciless repressions of innocent Somali ******ia People by masquerading under the international banner of “combating terrorism”, which in deed diverted the world attention to that direction and to the detriment of human right principles. Hence, violations of Somali ******ia human rights by the TPLF dominated EPRDF regime in Ethiopia and its associates, the self-declared Somaliland, have reached an unprecedented level. It is on the record that the Administrators of Hargeisa have become a role model for hostage taking of Somali ******ia civilians and merchants repeatedly with impunity. Then after confiscation of possessions from victims Hargeisa confirms transfer to the Regime.

Today we are witnessing once again the notorious practice of inhumane policies being adopted on the Somali ******ia civilians by successors of M. Igal in North Western Somalia. In its futile attempt to hoodwink opinions of the international community Mr. Riyale is trying to make others believe that the apparent lack of security in the territory is due to the presence of Somalis who are considered as “foreigners”, in which they announced that “non-Somalilanders” should backup and leave the region within 45 days that ends on 8-12-03. Under the pretext of this deportation order Hargeisa has an ulterior motives and as usual aims handing over all the hostages to the TPLF/EPRDF Regime and solicit political sympathy from Addis. Unfortunately, several hundreds of civilians and business people are put in overcrowded detention cells in Hargeisa and in other towns where they receive mental and physical ill treatment. Among the hostages they admitted includes 36 young labourers alleged of ONLF sympathisers or supporters. and 21 business people, elderly men and women. There are many more who remain unaccounted and feared en route already to the TPLF Security undercover agents based in Hargeisa, otherwise known as the Ethiopia Interest Protection Office. Tracks carrying merchandise and passengers from ******ia were also grounded at the police stations in Hargeisa for the same reasons.

Undoubtedly, this will undermine the delicate economic and security situation in the region. Deporting ethnic Somalis from a Somali territory in order to appease a foreign country such as Ethiopia does appear unfolding a new chapter for these brotherly people who had a long history of partnership and used to coexist from time immemorial. By all standard this new development unambiguously undermines the fraternity and cordial neighbourhood existing between the communities. Obviously, Mr. Riyale and his entourage are expected to remedy soon the damage caused overtly and covertly to the socio-cultural heritage and bonds of brotherhood that glue these Somali people together. He leaves for posterity an unforgettable stain on the noble relation and has inflicted an irreparable breakdown on the flourishing socio-economic trade partnership that makes households food security in the area sustainable.

While condemning these inhumane actions against innocent people, we also consider them as anti-Somali ethics in any level and unproductive to any genuine cause that one wishes to pursue. We therefore call for the attention of the international justices and peace-loving communities not to become silent spectators of the plights on the Somali ******ia People lamenting in detention camps of Hargeisa and other regions. We remind also all those caring for humanity to bear in mind that detainees are daily administered with torture of all sorts and are expecting soon repatriation orders to come from their captors, which is set to transfer them into the hands of a ruthless enemy who made them displaced from cradles. Finally, we call the international community, Governments, NGOs and friends of Somali ******ia Peoples to put pressure on Riyale and Administration to release those innocent civilians held in jails and restrain from doing any further violations of the inalienable rights of those people.
