Somaliland president abdurahman ciiro arrives in kenya nairobi

Somaliland will, as a matter of enduring policy, continue to assert its claim over the eastern regions of Sool and eastern Sanaag  regardless of its present level of control over those  regions. There remains a steadfast conviction among Somaliland’s leadership and citizenry that these lands will, in due course, be reintegrated be it through dialogue and diplomacy, or by means of more forceful measures. with the rise of the SSB this conviction is rooted  in a deep struggle to keep control of those regions .

Somaliland retains significant influence in these contested areas particularly in Sanaag and substantial portions of Sool.  Furthermore  the dynamics on the ground are evolving rapidly every timne . The once distant political figures, Ciiro and Deni, are increasingly aligned, forming what appears to be an emergent axis of cooperation some sources claimed they actually met . Simultaneously, there are backdoor dealings  between Firdhiye and the Bunker.

Somaliland and Puntland, long perceived as adversaries, of the past  are now exploring avenues of mutual engagement. Reports suggest Puntland may even be contemplating a path towards complete political severance from Mogadishu, a move that would further unsettle the already fragile  bunker  federa govt  Many anticipate that next year’s elections within “the Bunker” could prove transformative, particularly as Al Shabaab gains momentum, steadily asserting control over ever larger swathes of territory they are in balcad and can carry out attacks in mogadishy when ever they want . It is becoming increasingly clear that there may soon be very little left of the  bunker so what is there to rule maakhir

Historically, Somaliland’s desire to engage in unionist dialogue was genuine. In 1998, President ina cigaal  conceived a bold initiative: he sought to inaugurate himself as President of the Somali Republic, former Somali republic  propose a new capital, Hargeisa  and convene a reconciliation conference in Hargeisa for the (HAG) warlords and political elites. He believed that, upon witnessing the emergence of a functional government, the warlords would capitulate one by one. and that would be the end of it

Ina cigaal aimed to revive an earlier concept authored by Siilaanyo: a power-sharing framework between SNM and the  USC  built on a confederal model  two systems, one nation.” A joint Somali government would exist, while SNM administered Somaliland and USC-administered Somalia would retain substantial autonomy. Yet this initiative, like its 1990 predecessor, was met with indifference. Delegations were dispatched from Somaliland to Mogadishu throughout early 1990 among them was Saleebaan Gaal yet they returned empty handed. The only discourse from the koonfurians  elites concerned food and basic subsistence.  aboowe moos ma qabtan babayo ma qabtaan .  selebaan gaal said niman cunta ka sheekeneya u tegey. waxba kam so socdan eeh ku dhawaaqa bu yidhi

Ina cigaal final attempt at unity was scuppered when the HAG faction, under Abdiqasim Salad Hassan, chose to participate in the Djibouti led Arta Conference rather than join ina cigaal Hargeisa initiative. Stung by this betrayal, and with the public urging him to formalise Somaliland’s sovereign path, ina cigaal had no choice  turned his focus to state-building. The people demanded a constitution, and by 2001 just a year before his passing the Somaliland Constitution was ratified by popular referendum. Its very first article proclaimed the Republic of Somaliland, the state that had originally gained independence from Great Britain and Northern Ireland in 1960, to be an independent, sovereign nation once again.

From that moment, any conceivable path back to union with Somalia was foreclosed. For ever , so maakhir there is nothing to rule  there is nothing left to rule.

The recognition of Somaliland is inevitable its not if its when  and reer Somaliland are determined  The Somaliland people have invested profoundly in their statehood; they will never again consent to be ruled by others never again. The creation of Somaliland has brought unparalleled social and economic benefit to its citizens. What does Mogadishu offer in comparison, other than poverty, African Union troops, and  homicide attacks

Had independence not so tangibly improved the lives of its people, Somaliland’s statehood movement would have withered. Yet it has flourished, even among leaders once seen as unionists such as Tuur and the early in ina cigaal  By the time President ina  Rayaale assumed office, the pursuit of international recognition had become policy orthodoxy.  ina Rayaale’s administration achieved important diplomatic gains, including hosting U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Jendayi Frazer during the Bush administration and laying the groundwork for potential AU engagement an effort sadly stymied by opposition from Egypt and Sudan. if it wasnt for them SL would be part of the au now

Today, the geopolitical winds are shifting. U.S. Senators now speak openly of engaging Somaliland; the “Somaliland Partnership Act” has been formally adopted in the USA  President Biixi’s visit to Washington marked a milestone in visibility and influence. The UAE has committed over a billion dollars in investment, a testament to Somaliland’s growing strategic appeal. The memorandum of understanding forged with Ethiopia last year   catalysed further global interest, and forced Mogadishu to make reactive, and at times desperate,  and  liquidating assets to curry favour with Ankara. they sold everything to Sultan erdogan just in spite of SL

Yet the central Somali govern ment is fast running out of options. They have played every card denying visas, erasing “Somaliland” from international flight listings, attempting to sabotage livestock exports. None have yielded results. Somaliland remains resilient.

Now, under the leadership of President Ciiro a seasoned statesman Somaliland’s diplomatic tempo has accelerated. He has already received full presidential honours in the UAE, visited Kenya despite its hosting of many historical adversaries tribal enemies , and met with the Kenyan President and leading intellectuals such as Prof. PLO Lumumba. His next scheduled visits include Ethiopia and, crucially, the United States.

Never before has Somaliland stood so tall on the world stage. It is led by a capable, worldly president who understands the international landscape and engages it with dignity and resolve. He has done so much in so little times

The Republic of Somaliland is no longer an aspiration it is a reality. And that reality is only becoming more difficult to ignore.
