Somalia’s State Minister for Defense, Sheikh Yusuf Mohamed Siad aka Indha'ade said Hizbul Islam leader Sheikh Hassan Dahir Aweys is a hostage of Al-Shabaab militants.

 

Addressing reporters in Mogadishu, Indhaade said the Islamist leader is in great danger of being killed by Al-Shabaab, urging him to focus on his life than declaring war gaiants the government.

 

“Sheikh Hassan is an Al-Shabaab hostage. He should put his focus on Al-Shabaab who tried several times to eliminate him,” he said in response to Sheikh Aweys’s rhetoric war gesture against the government.

 

Sheikh Aweys has recently declared holy war against the UN-backed government and its supporters.

 

The state minister for defense also talked about a lawmaker who joined Al-Shabaab.

 

“Salah Badbado and other officials who are still in the government had links with Al-Shabaab and Hizbul Islam, so if he decided to join them officially, then we can’t say he ditched the government,” he said.

 

On Saturday, Lawmaker Salah Nur Ismael aka Badbado, who is from northern Somalia (Somaliland), announced in a press conference that he has ditched the government for the militant group.

 

Meanwhile, Indha’ade announced that the government would still pursue its plans to flush out insurgents from the regions.
