    In an anti-guerilla war conducted in the country's ****** region, "Ethiopian troops are burning villages, raping women and killing civilians as part of a systematic campaign to drive them from their homes." Refugees say dozens of villages have been destroyed and have "accused the Ethiopian government of forcibly starving its own people by preventing food convoys reaching villages and destroying crops and livestock."*

     

    "A former Ethiopian soldier who defected from the army said how he had been ordered to burn villages and kill all their inhabitants. He said the Ethiopian air force would bomb a village before a unit of ground troops followed, firing indiscriminately at civilians. 'Men, women, children - we killed them all,' he said."

     

    The little-known conflict in ****** parallels the more widely known war in Darfur. The conflict began when rebels killed scores of Ethiopian guards and Chinese employees at a Chinese-run oil field. The government replied with a harsh crackdown.

     

    "Human rights investigators are gathering evidence of widespread use of rape, with women reporting gang-rapes by up to a dozen soldiers. In some villages, men have been abducted at night, their bodies dumped in the village the next morning.

     

    "While in Darfur, aid agencies have been able to establish camps and provide humanitarian support, they have been blocked from setting up operations in the ******. The International Committee of the Red Cross has been thrown out and Medicins Sans Frontieres has also been prevented from working. Journalists trying to enter have also been banned - those that have tried have been promptly arrested."

     

    But while neutral leftists have worked themselves into a state of high moral dudgeon over Sudan's counter-insurgency in Darfur, which "has been described by the US as 'genocide' and by the UN as 'crimes against humanity'", they have been virtually silent on Ethiopia, a recipient of US and British military and humanitarian aid.

     

    "America's top official on African affairs, assistant secretary of state, Jendayi Frazer, visited one town in the ****** last month.

     

    "On her return to Ethiopia's capital, Addis Ababa, she criticized the rebels and said the reports of military abuses were merely allegations. 'We urge any and every government to respect human rights and to try to avoid civilian casualties but that's difficult in dealing with an insurgency,' she said."

     

    The West's official enemies are never allowed the same latitude in dealing with their own (often US and British financed and instigated) insurgencies - a double standard backed by neutral leftists through their voluble condemnations of the anti-insurgency efforts of official enemies and comparative silence on those of Western client states.

     

    "The US provides some $283m (£140m) in military and humanitarian aid to Ethiopia and has trained its military - one of the largest and strongest in Africa."

    No news coming out of Somalia overwhelms me as much that which comes out of Somali galbeed. The above snippets of information send shivers down ones spine. Apart from medieval times, no other people have had to endure what our fellow Somalis are enduring in Somali galbeed. Even the brutality of the Russians in Chechnya pales in comparison.

    For the dead poor Somalis women, for the raped and abused mothers, for the kids and toddlers killed and maimed...For Somali Galbeed...Eeboow dhibtaa kasaar!!!!

    The power struggle between the goon and the pink Lady Geedo is getting real each day and the people of the world and poor Somali kids and women await in the wings for the pending disaster to present itself any day...

     

    Yeey the vampire went to Baydhabo to shore up support from his clan base and in the meantime Gedo Fanaxleey had a closed door session with the clan warlords and Mohamed Dheere in a move many said is meant to kick the Pig Stooge out of Ocuppied Hamar for good...

     

    This is surely going to lead to an armed conflict...we will witness more Somali women and kids killed, private and public property looting and more inter-clan fighting...We will surely see soon where the chips will fall...May the almighty protect the poor and the weak

    Man accidentally divorces wife in sleep

     

    Village elders ordered a Muslim man in eastern India to leave his wife after he accidentally divorced her in his sleep, a news report said Tuesday.

     

    Aftab Ansari uttered the Urdu word for divorce, "talaq," three times in his sleep, prompting his worried wife to discuss the matter with her friends, according to the Press Trust of India news agency.

     

    Under Islamic law, a husband need only say "I divorce you" three times to secure a permanent end to his marriage.

     

    Muslim leaders in the couple's village in West Bengal state found out and decreed that Ansari's unconscious utterances constituted a divorce, PTI reported.

     

    But 30-year-old Ansari said he had no intention of leaving his wife of 11 years.

     

    "I have not given talaq. When I uttered talaq three times I had taken medicines to help me sleep," he was quoted as saying in the report.

     

    The religious leaders said that before remarrying, the couple would have to be apart for at least 100 days and that the wife, Sohela, would also have to spend a night with another man and then be divorced by him.

     

    PTI reported that the couple has been ostracized because of their refusal to abide by the decision of the village leaders.

Ethiopia’s excursion into the Somali bush lands surely entails untold dangers for the highland Abyssinian state. If Ethiopia gets bogged down in the Somali sand dunes, as she is likely to do, this will signal the breaking of the Somali run of back luck with respect to Ethiopia that has plagued the “pastoral” Somalis since recorded times. Given the traditional hostility between Muslim Somalia and Christian-ruled Ethiopia, the Somalis will, undoubtedly, turn against the Ethiopian presence in their land. A massive insurgency both against Ethiopia and “its fledgling client, the TFG,” is already under way.

    Your objections would be valid if they were appointed in a peace-time setting, but we're at war, brother. The theatre of war is now centered in Mogadisho and hence, everything that is conducive to that effort will be done.

     

    Including appointing Aideed and Idacadde to positions of leadership. Gotta think long and large. Not short and shallow.

    It really amuses me to the core when I see US gripped, literally engrossed in minor stuff that has nothing to do with the bigger and the vital and the central issue of the current struggle which of course means to me nothing else but standing in the way of the occupation no matter how…with what and whom.

     

    It’s all indhocade this or indhacase that…has anyone asked himself where he has been for the past 7 months? Ever get curious of why he was selected for that post in absentia? Where the hell has he been in 7 months? What was the circumstances surrounding his selection? These are the right questions to ask, to be curious about if one is really genuinely is concerned about the Darwiishes ‘reputation’ unless otherwise one is of course out there with the Dukes of this world itching for an exit, and a change of heart for the Tigrinyan boys in Hamar..
