  1.

    MD,

Good to see you back. I hope all is well. Thanks for the pics, I am a bit surpised that he is getting that kind of treatment. Although, I hope those mercedes were not paid for out of pocket...I can think of better ways of spending those funds(i.e. current drought conditions).

    SB,

Are you aware that you can not use tribal names on this forum?

  2. LST,

Apologies for the late reply,--I missed your question. No, unfortunately I did not get a chance to return home this summer. InshaAllah, I will be going next May. Although I will be visiting all of Northern Somalia. Did you have a chance to go this summer?

  3. SNW,

I couldnt agree more. There does seem to be a light at the end of this tunnle. Although once the President has been chosen, the loser(s) may well attempt to curtail the success of this new government. We can only hope...

BTW, Did you have a chance to visit Somalia over the summer?

    Ma'salaam

  4. MMA,

Haa, add iyo add baan u faraxsan ahay markaan arkaa dad soomaaliyeed oo dhaqankooda sidaas u jeceel.

  5. Salaam,

This was a rather amusing article to say the least. It seems tiny Djibouti has become a thorn in the sides of these would-be intellectuals. His latest article (this seems to be his sole occupation as of late), weaves a tale of controlled paranoia and conspiracy theories for his enraptured audience. Enjoy.

  7. Samurai,

Thanks for this post. Its very uplifting to see substantive improvements in Somalia,--such as this health care facility. As always, I enjoy your posts. Keep it up.

    Sareeda,

I checked out the weather for Somali cities, and it seems Somalia itself is very hot.... :D

All the cities(including Bosaso, Mogadishu, and Hargeisa) are between 30-35 degrees celcius. Those are "high's".

But good luck on your trip, if you decide to go.

  8. I agree with hadaad.

I remember another person claiming those four americans killed in Falluja were "innocent civilians". They turned out to be former Army veterans and Navy SEALs, hired by Blackwater Security Consulting, as mercenaries and paid $1500+ per day in Iraq. Feel sorry for them as well?

The fact is that ALL americans(and foreigners) in Iraq, are there to reap the rewards of their invasion and occupation of muslims. Period. They are not there to help but to kill, maim, rape, and torture. All the while jews like Mr. Berg, and his company, try to make money from it...

Keep your pity and sympathy for real victims...MUSLIMS.

  9. I might be mistaken, but I remember reading that western galgaduud was suppose to be part of Puntland. But their leaders decided against it, and left the 1998 conference in Garowe.

I dont see cabudwaq joining PL, but perhaps a galgaduud government would be a good alternative. It might bring a lastly peace for the residents of that region...

  10. New Iraqi Flag Meets With Public Disapproval

This was the other flag under consideration....

    By Pamela Constable

    Washington Post Foreign Service

    Monday, April 26, 2004; 1:03 PM

BAGHDAD, April 26 -- It was supposed to be the perfect symbol for a new and unified Iraq: an Islamic crescent on a field of pure white, with two blue stripes representing the Tigris and Euphrates rivers and a third yellow stripe to symbolize the country's Kurdish minority.

But the new national flag, presented Monday after an artistic competition sponsored by the Iraqi Governing Council, appears to have met with widespread public disapproval here -- in part because of its design and in part because of the increasing unpopularity of the U.S.-appointed council.

In interviews in several Baghdad neighborhoods, a variety of residents expressed strong negative reactions to the flag, which was reproduced in most daily newspapers. In particular, people objected to the pale blue color of the crescent and stripes, saying it was identical to the dominant color in the flag of Israel, a Jewish state.

"When I saw it in the newspaper, I felt very sad," said Muthana Khalil, 50, a supermarket owner in Saadoun, a commercial area in central Baghdad. "The flags of other Arab countries are red and green and black. Why did they put in these colors that are the same as Israel? Why was the public opinion not consulted?"

Other residents objected to the removal of the phrase, "God is greatest," which adorned the previous national flag, and said there was no need for a new one until national elections are held next January and a new constitution is written.

  11. Salaam,

    Alhamdulillah this is good news.

This man of peace and integrity has won the confidence of somalis accross the clan spectrum and his voice of conscience should not, will not and can not be silenced.

I very much agree. Let's hope tradition leaders are given more respect by Somali politicians/warlords.

Also, is there any court action that Buurmadow can take? Such charging the government with false imprisonment?

  12. Salaam,

Mobb, walaal you are wasting too much time and energy on this thread. You have stated your stance on these points on several occassions; how others will twist/interpret it is up to them. I suggest you ignore such individuals and/or discussions in the future as it is pointless and beneath you.

I agree with Athena, Sophist is one of the most genuine, thoughtful, knowledgeable, and interested nomads.

Mashaallah, Mabruuk brother on your meher.I am glad to hear that you have fulfilled half of your deen. May Allah guide both of you, and your marriage be long-lasting and blissful. May this day, along with those to come, be the most beautiful days for you both. Amiin.
