Why is Somaliland even respinding to a meeting in Mogadishu? Why did they not respond to the meeting in Khartoum, or the one to be held in Cairo and so on? The fact remains NW Somalia will shake to the core when we have a stable government in Mogadishu. Hence the overtime XX is putting in of late.

Somali Global Business Models Two Somali diaspora business ‘models’ have developed in the shadow of globalisation and the aftermath of the collapse of the Somali economy. The first is licit and involves a global trading system controlled and operated by the Somali diaspora (in East Africa, the East and the West). Based on a clan honour system and driven by collective interest, it has managed to replicate the immediacy of global capital movement through its own money transfer system – hawala. Mostly as a result of the efficiency of the hawala system (mimicking the Pakistani/South Asian model), the Somali community has managed to establish a vast global trade network. Originally conceived to deliver khat to outlying diaspora communities in Europe and the United States, this trading system has evolved, over the last decade into an almost purely mercantile network that now delivers textiles and electronics (both real and counterfeit). As a further consolidation, members of the community have also set up a seaport clearing and forwarding network that once again sits in the shadow of established shipping networks. Walking the line between licit and illicit; this network thrives on port corruption to deliver goods cheaply and efficiently. As a result, over the past decade the Somali business community has become the foremost entrepreneurs in the East African region. Having supplanted the Asian community as the predominant East African traders, Somali capital has of late diversified into real estate and the hospitality industry. These essentially legitimate activities have gentrified a pastoralist community long considered (by both the colonial and independence establishments) as rebel outsiders. Within this context, the spectre of ‘Somali piracy’ emerges as a disjuncture. In much the same way that Somali nationalism of the pre-independence and immediate post-independence era existed within official discourse, ‘Somali piracy’ asserts itself as a disruptive idea, much misunderstood for all its nomadic underpinnings and therefore instinctively rejected. Like Somali nationalism, Somali piracy, has once again produced regionally disruptive outcomes, threatening the very global economy embraced and mastered by the legitimate Somali trading system. We assess the effects of the breakdown of the Somali state; examine the inner workings of the Somali diaspora economy; and compare and contrast the two radically different Somali global business models.

^^^Who is fighting AMISOM/TFG? Oh its Ibrahim Afghani & Ahmed Godane led Al Shabaab group, who are aided by the secessionist in Hargaysa. You think the international community does not know?

Faroole's folly is that he is playing a small game when there needs to be a bigger strategy. However the meeting is in the hands of Mr Mahiga and the UN security council. Its a good move and the little secessionist will fall in line.

The good thing is that no longer does it depend on any individual. The international support, specifically AMISOM will continue. A leaner Parliament will lead to a more competent leadership. I don’t care who it is, or what clan they are from. The impact they will have on the secessionists, the vagabonds and the Shababaites will be great.

Garowe & Mogadishu are no different adeer. Faroole losing is also not a major problem. The fact that makes me happy is that after 20 years your leadership is learning things from Faroole, like the importance of attending international conferences on Somalia.

Mahiga is to lead the meeting. Farmajo & Co are by standards, it should not be blocked by anyone least of all Puntland leadership. The protection of AMSIOM will cover everyone coming to the meeting. Xeefow , who ever you maybe lets be clear there will be no extension for Farmaajo & his cabinet.

The same man, Mahiga that your cabinet attacked and your singers and cheerleaders demonstrated against will be leading this meeting. His office will execute the plan, send out the invitations and help set the agenda. The cabinet you speak of will be mere participants like any other Somali group. The game is up, and now of to the Capital for a new chapter.

Mahiga should stick with his plan. Host the meeting in Mogadishu and add Faroole to the list of bared candidates.

With a more competent admin this effort will be doubled. The meeting in Mogadishu should not be obstructed in anyway. The meeting should be held in the capital under the noses of Sharif Ahmed & Farmaajo.
