  3. Without having to have Amina Ilyar doing her buraanbuur, without Asha doing her thang or a Xaliimo getting down on her knees with shake it down Niiko..Or how about Ali Jiis not having to borrow his roommates over used suit or Cisman not having to stand all night beside the wall eye every Xaaliimo's behind ,cant we just have a Somali wedding without all that.I always hope that my day would be simple get married in a drive thru Muslim "chapel" more like the ones in Vegas and more like a wam bam thank you sir type of a wedding ceremony. Before you know it me and my Casho are getting our freak on in an exotic island away from Somalis iyo Ma arkeys attitude.

Possible, I dont think so but there is no harm in dreaming.......... smile.gif

  4. Interesting points raised by some but for the most part everyone seems to either forget that Cilmi was reciting poems about love when the word JACEYL was taboo and no man dare profess that in public for fear of shaming himself and his would be lover.Society was very conservative and by far more strict in terms of tradition.Women hardly ventured outside their homes and marriages very strictly a family arranged business. In public theatres men would dress up as women and play their roles. That was the period Elmi lived and thats the reason why he is considered a pioneer.Hal gabey oo hees laga dhigey baa meeshaa lagu soo celcelinayaa. This guy recited more poems for Hodan than most Abwaans recite in a lifetime unfortunately only a few are written down others bits n pieces are known while most have been erased from the annals of history...Here's one of these many poems.

Waxaan huguguf leeyaba dhakhsaan ku hor imaadaaye

Sida halo kareebaan saqdhexe soo horanayaaye

Sida ubadku hooyada u tebo kuu hafeeftamaye

Hadii aanan ku lahayn yartaay kuma haleeleene

    Habeenkii yimaadaba lixjeer kuma horjoogeene

Hal abuurka kuumaan tirsheen heeska caashaqa e

Bal hor joogsi daayoo anaan haynin aragaaga

Hareertayda ood joogtidbaan ku hami qaataaye

    Markaasaan humaagiyo cidladaku hambalyeystaaye

Hilinkaynu maridoono iyo hooy ku taamaaye

Hagaageena iyo khayr ayaan ku hindisoodaaye

    Markaan keligeey haasaawayeen aan islahadlaayo

Ayagoon wax hubinoo ogeyn waxa i heeteeyey

Dadku waxay u haystaan inaan dhigay hugeygiiye

Hadaaq ay wax sheeg-sheegayaan uma haboonayne

Haabkooda may gelin cishqiga hawsha daba taale

Inta uu hadhuudhlaha kudaray ama hed soo gooyey

hal-hal tirada waan lagu heleyn an-iyo Haabiile

    Anigana haduu igu shakalay hadimadiisiiye

Imikuu u hees yidhi gab'dhaa taan hanteen rabaye

Aniguna hensii kaama lumin u halgankiisiiye

Waa waxan hadhuub ugu sitaa hoorka caashaqa e

Waa waxan dhul heegadu martiyo Hodan u geeyaaye

Waa waxan haboow uga jiraa horukac mooyaane

Waa waxan hirdoogliyo caleen ugu horseedaaye

Hablahoo dhan keligaa yartaay hibeda laysaarye

Sida hogol kaliishii da'doo milicdu ay-hayso

Ama lebiga hawdoo gugii ubaxu heeryeeyey

Oo haadku dhaafoo shinbiro cimilo goor heesa

Aadmigu ma hilayee dhakhsuu ugu hiloobaaye

Anna xiisahaan kuu hayaa kaba hanaan-dheere

Ninba tuu ka helay buu gab-dhaha Hodan ku sheegaaye

Oon heerkastay qurux ka tahay hawlin taa kale'e

Anna dookhu adiguu huwadey kuna hareer yaale

Qaar buu gab-dhaha hilibku iyo hugu cusleeyaaye

Adna inaanad haabkaa ahayn hubiyey dhawrjeere

And here's another poem he recited......

Caashaqa haween waa horaa Caadil soo rogaye

Sayidkii cishqiqa nuureiyo Caliba soo gaadhye

Caruurtay sideen ciirshe meesha iyo nebigiiye

Cidla lagama beermeen dadkoo cudud waaxidahe

Waxa caynba cayn looga dhigay ha is cajabiyaane

Soomaalidaa caado xune cidi iguma caydeene

Oo ima canaanateen sidaan cuud ka iibsadaye

Kuwii ii calaacalay baan caqli tusaalayne

Sida weelka caanaha hadii laabta loo culayo

Bal aan soo cidaadee maxaa cunaha dhaafaaye

Curuuqda maxaa kala dhex geli cadaha hoostooda

    Ma ciidaamkanaa jabinaya cunaya dhuuxooda

Inaanse cadaydo mooyee waxaan calalsho la'ii diidye

Caqliga yaa ka bi'in tuu Ilaah ku cir-cadaayeeyey

Cimrigayga oon jirin intii lagu ciroobaayey

Muga inaan cadaadaabaan ka biqi Canab darteede

Cududuhu ma naxaan qofkay talo ku ciirtaaye

Casharkay wadaadadu qoreen cudurkan go'i waayey

Cilmi dawo waliba doontay oo weyday cilinkiise

Jeeraan Canabeey ku helo caafimaad dhimaye

Inaan caad noqdaa baa ka roon caawa saan ahaye

Ilayn caashaq lama maydhi karo kugu ciroobay.

Think about that next time they teach you about Vasco Da Gama and his expeditions in school!

strange that some years ago, I was big fan of the Brazilian soccer team, Vasko De Gama.

    Aqoonla'aani Waa Iftiin La'aan!

It was actually Christopher Da Gama , Vasco Da Gama's brother who came to help the Ethiopians against Ahmed Gurey. However upon landing in Ethiopia half the army of 400 portugese soldiers and their leader Christopher Da Gama were ambushed by Ahmed Gurey and subsequently killed in the ensuing battle. So dhaweyn fiican dheh.

CHEATING WILL NOT GET YOU ANYWHERE, NOT WHEN WE ARE AT A TIME WHERE OUR OWN PRIVACY IS AT JEOPARDY. (YOUR INSTRUCTOR, WHOEVER HE/SHE MIGHT BE ISN'T STUP*D , SHE WILL KNOW JUST BY READING THE FIRST FEW LINES OF YOUR PAPER WHETHER U WROTE IT OR NOT, YOU BETTER RE-THINK ABOUT YOUR SITUATION)

I SUGGEST U TAKE DARMAN's ADVICE AND I APOLOGIZE FOR WASTING MY FEW MINUTES TO TRY AND HELP U OUT BY GIVING YOU SOME SORT OF AN OUTLOOK ON THE WHOLE PAPER WITHOUT GIVING AWAY ANYTHING...AND ALL ALONG U HAD CHEATING ON YA MIND...

I FEEL SORRY FOR THE FOLKS WHO POSTED BEFORE ME THAT ADVICED THE BROTHA TO CHEAT...IF THATS YOUR WAY OF HELPING HIM OUT, WHY BOTHER POSTING ANYTHING TO BEGIN WITH???

Dont get me wrong here but I do not intend to cheat,I'm just trying to get some sort of an idea based on what nomads think of this issue. If I wanted to cheat I would just go online and pick one out of the million availible.

  8. Sue and Darman

    Thanks for the responses.

    Lazie

A million thank yous for your input.I was actually looking forward to hearing personal opinions on the subject matter. Now with no time on my hands and having not seen nor read the book I am in a very difficult position. The central theme of the paper is based on personal opinions and the book and movie are a reference and not the subject matter itself.

  9. ^^^^^^^^^^I'm actually thinking of getting a few different perspectives from our esteemed nomads that I could cut and paste into a 2 page essay(just kidding).Plz let know your take on this issue.

how you EXPOSED Samuriwarrion and SmithNwestern

as his "Back up Singer". LOLLLLL!!!

Samurai and Smith are two very different, pro-Somali unity nomads and to call any nomad a back up singer is wrong and inconsiderate in my humble opinion. I have supported Samurai, and i have supported Smith, yet there were times in which we were in opposing sides, so does my former action make me a back up singer? Does my supporting someone or someone supporting me make me a back up singer?

If it does to you, than I propably am the biggest back up singer of all.

I'll try to give an honest description of the both.

    Samurai Warrior:
One of the most learned nomads in SOL. Pro-Puntland, and does the absolute best to stand up for Somalinimo and against seccessionism.

    SmithNwestern
    :
Pro-Abdulahi Yusuf and one of the best debaters in SOL. Very vocal in his stand against "Somaliland", and feels the hopes and dreams of ever Somali and Somalia as a whole in general.
    Horn

I know you can do better than that.Arrinkaagu waa the case of the ostrich that sticks its head in the sand when threatened.Uncle Sam iyo his sidekick Smith are far from your description.I guess malaha ma kala saari kartid ninka boorka isku qasayo iyo key dacaad ka tahay Somalinimo.I think you and I both know these 2 go where Adeero Abdillahi goes, inta Kale been saaxiib.Ta kale let me just clarify this for you Somalinimo isnt a quality xumaan lagu qiimeeyo or the degree of hate you have towards Somaliland(a very narrow defination if I may add here). It should rather be defined as a how much you love and appreciate Somalis regardless of race, religion and political conviction and above all wanting the best for all Somalis from every where. To me thats truely Somalinimo.
