  1. Who saids that our indepedence is contingent on the 5 somalis' availability for unification? Is there some 'clause' that refers to this in our constitution? I think not. Let's not get sloppy walaalayal. The independence is sacrosanct and does not hinge on 5, 10 or 20 somalis, Or better co-operation with Ethiopians and Americans. If our people were to agree to sell their independence upon some future event happening or not happening than, why even fight for it and achieve it in the first place? We may as well have laid down our arms in the face of tyranny and oppression and accepted the terms dictated to us by the former regime of Somalia. That would have saved us hundreds of thousands of lives and forced us into an eternity of servitude.

Unlike Ernesto Guevara's quote some folks would have you believe it is better to live on your knees than die standing.

  4. I haven't read this thread aside from the first post, what I can say with some certainty is if the thread was titled fåqash, It would have long been deleted. Secondly if you have no problem calling ppl qåldaan, than you should have no problem having ppl call you 'wålawayn' or 'Fåqash' or 'Midgån' or whatever. If you think these words don't equate, than perhaps you should step back and wonder if your being objective, as far I'm concerned they are all the same. If you don't agree I'd sure like to hear why.

    P.S.

'I say it to my friend all the time' does not constitute a valid and reasonable answer. I think most would agree on that much.

Hargeisa was getting attention eh? what kinda of attention? What infrastructure did the government build?

A Bush voting republican at that!, ask him about the 2K, he won't deny it. :D

Libaax has a point though, as far as branding McCain the more 'moderate' republican. Do not be fooled by the diatribe coming out of the neo-con media, none of these Republicans have an agenda that could even be masked as 'progressive'.

How much of the history of somalia is actually written by Somalis anyway?

^Glad you see it that way after your earlier comments.

No matter where she's from, it seems folks are getting away from what I think is the most paragraph in that article.

Taking the landscape as its central theme, her project explores an important part of the Somalis’ cultural heritage. Many African societies have little written history, making archaeology a key means of exploring their past

So her research will benefit all somalis and perhaps even shed light on the true origin of somalis, all 'theories' aside. It is no secret most of our history stems from oral traditions of poetry and the like. Often containing both myth and reality, it will be hard work for anybody trying to uncover hard material facts about somali origins and history.

  8. Your on to something^

Société Générale's excuse was that he held a previous post in the 'middle office' and that he knew most of the procedures to approve trades. Nevertheless, lot of people suspect that Management at many levels was in on this.
