  1. ANYWHO..This reminda me of the time when I was on the train, and this guy got on the stop after mines and sat next to me. From the corner of my eyes, I could see him looking at me,( on and off, i think iwould have been even more freaked out if he just stared with out even looking away). So it was about a few stops later that he tapped my shoulders,( deep down inside I was like, why!?..why can't he just leave me alone, I'm no t going to give hima chance) He must have seen the look on my face, because when i turned to look at him, he put said " Look, i just wanted to know if you could wake me up when we reach this stop...and just a bit of advice, not evry guy who opens his mouth to say something to you wants to holla"....I felt to embarrassed, but I'm glad i got that reality check...

  2. Family paying for $30M win

Media harassing relatives, winner's brother contends

Should have `up and moved' Sobeski kin says

    PETER SMALL

    STAFF REPORTER

Even though winning a lottery is almost everyone's dream, for the extended family of the $30 million man it's become a nightmare, his brother says.

The furor over the surfacing of two former wives and a woman claiming to be still married to Raymond Sobeski has forced his parents to go into hiding and his siblings to lie low, said his brother, Larry Sobeski.

"Probably the best thing we could have done is everybody just up and moved," he said from his home west of Brantford.

Raymond Sobeski kept his $30 million secret for almost a year until he appeared at a Lotto Super 7 news conference last Thursday to claim Canada's largest single lottery jackpot. He also said he was single.

Since then, reporters have been banging on the door of the family farm in the rural community of Harley and taking pictures of the house. Locals are stopped on the street and asked what they think, and false stories have appeared saying he's behind on child support for his two children, 12 and 13, Sobeski said.

"All of a sudden the family name is being smashed on TV," he said. "My parents are good people, real good people and they don't need this."

Sobeski said he doesn't know where his brother is vacationing, though he's been in touch.

Meanwhile, a Woodstock mother of four continues to insist she is legally married to the lottery winner. Nynna Ionson said she is confused about why he kept her in the dark about the ticket. "Thirty million dollars and me. Why wouldn't you want both?"
(I can think of a few reason why!
    :D
    )

Court documents surfaced last week showing Sobeski had been twice married, divorced at least once, and had two children.

Ionson met Sobeski Dec. 10, 1994, and they eloped exactly four years later, she said. She said she is finding it hard to reconcile her feelings with Sobeski's decision to sit on a lottery ticket while she was struggling.

"I believe he loves me, but I'm confused why he'd let me suffer for an entire year," she said. "I can't believe he did it. It's been the worst year of my life."

She said Sobeski gave her separation papers more than a year ago and she received, but didn't sign, divorce papers in January.

She also said their relationship has continued.

Meanwhile, Sobeski's second wife and the mother of his two children, Sherry Sobeski, was away from her Bobcaygeon home to dodge the media, said paralegal Paula Markus.

I think that somewhere down the line, we are related, I'm sure of it and no one can tell me I'm not. Sobeskiiiiii, remember grandpa Adam! :D

I just want to get to know my 'brother' again,

    won't ask for 'MUCH'-lol

  3. Subhanallah,

If these are human corpses aka dead people,

that they are hanging upside down from the bridge and dragging through the streets, then

these some of these Iraqissss are sick bassstards!

Animal like, it reminds of me that ayat of the quran that I was reading today about the Arabs being the worst in Kufr in sura Tauba.

I recall an incident where in there was a murtaad/someone who left Islam and the sahaba burnt them and they were told not to Burn people

b/c that is for ALLAH to do. Torturing and tormenting is for Allah to do.

Thats why we don't shoot Animals or put needles in them, so as to prevent them from suffering, we do Dhaabixaa/qurabani.

    This are gruesome pics, walahi!

They should be taken off SOL to respect the Dead!

Maybe may emotions are getting the best of me hear but people who do such things 'dragging dead and burnt people' are Animals.

Anyways, alot can be said but Take these pictures OFF SOL!!!

I don't think that you'll get a 'proper' response from those ladies but here is my 3 cents.

I think that its a phase that young sisters go through cause they hardly see positive somali role models and by this I mean, what they are taught as 'GOOD MEN' by Oprah, the movies and music videos, they don't find in the somali community.

I've talked to some sisters who would rather be with a non-somalian dude anyday because they themselves can't relate to the somali culture

and have a difficult time speaking somali. So they feel embarassed to be around somalis as a result of this.

    Anyways thats my 3 cents....

Personally, I had a dry spell, mid summer, a few days before payday, cards are maxed out and the car was running on fumes, so I picked up one of those free lifestyle magazines and looked for something that would fly. Bingo!!! Symphony of fire....(for those of you that are not Torontonians, thats an international fire-works competition held every year). So I spotted $20 from a buddy, got $10 of gas and drove her to a premium lake shore spot ( you can't beat it, fire-works show on one side and the city sky line on the other and a nice breeze coming of the lake) bought her an ice-cream popped in the slow-jams CD and she was happier than a fat kid in a candy store.

And that, my friend, is how you do it.

Spoken like a True PIMP! ;)

let's not go to this expensive restaurant. let's go for picnic today, and i bring all the food, food that i cooked in the house, go to the side of the river..
eat the jam and the butter u made, spend the day there, buy 2 cokes, dollar each. and that's it.

QQ, now u know u just steered off most of the sol xalimos from your path. At least tell them that you'll add some xaliwo (1/4 kilo=$3) to the picnic and they'll come runnin' back. smile.gif

I see, ilaahi ana aa u naxreesto, for the poor

man that u get married to.

    Gold Digger on isle 4,

    STAY AWAY!!! ;)

age should not be a barrier and prejudice that blocks the very advances and steps a young man takes to talk to an older woman

Nur saxib, what if the sister has hit the age where she can't have children, she's not that attractive but Masha Allah is a good Muslimah.

Would you go after her, knowing this and that u have never married and don't have kids?

Jabir b. 'Abdullah (Allah be pleased with them) reported: We were with Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) in an expedition. When we returned I urged my camel to move quickly as it was slow. There met me a rider from behind me and he goaded it with an iron-tipped stick which he had with him.My camel moved forward like the best that you have ever seen. As I turned (my face) I found him to be Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) He said: Jabir, what hastens you?I said: Messenger of Allah, I am newly wedded. whereupon he said: Is it a virgin that you have married or one previously married? I said: With one previously married. He said: Why not a young girl so that you could play with her and she could play with you?...

In other rewayeds (narrations) the term Virgin is used instead of a young girl(in the english translations at least!)

From this hadith, the lessons that can be learned are:

-In marriage, physical attraction is important so as to protect the believers from Lusting for people other then their spouse and committing Adultery.

-Youthful/Virgin companions for the male are

    preferred!

-The Rasul (salallahu caliyhe wasilm)was aware of the personal affairs of the Sahaba and what they did in their homes, impacts the rest of the sahaba. Hence, the naseeha/advice given to the sahabi/companion.

    -Youthfulness in women

is preferred when seeking marriage partner.

Its not Haram to marry someone that is Older, or not a virgin but for a Man, according to the above incident in the seerah, the preference is for virginity and youthfulness.

Their is rationale to the deen too.

Yes, the rasul (salallahu caliyhe wasilm) married Khadijah who was older then him, but he also married Ayesha who was very young and if u look at how many hadiths are narrated by Ayesha compared to his other wives, you can see that more time was spent with the Aisha, the youngest wife.

Anyways, I better put on the ARMOR,

cause I can just hear the ARMY marching like that of the armies of Mordor in Lord of the Rings!

Hey that Outkast 'Roses' song is 'HEAVY' as my brit blocks (however u might spell it) would say. Saw the video yesterday, it looks like a 50's high school movie.

  12. Salaamz,

    Would like to meet...hmmm...

    1. Sophist and Mr. Ooadwayne

-I just want wanna take them both to the GYM

and be their ref. for a 'Boxing Match'.

The Winner would get Dinner with Ameenah.

Well, if Ooawayne wins, I think lunch with Nasir and Angel Dust would be nice. ;)

    On a more serious note,

I have met a few nomads already and I enjoyed their company and conversations with them. :D

Truth is that souls that are a like, have a way of finding themselves because as the saying goes

'You are with those that you love/cherish/adore'

You know there is a saying, when two great souls meet, they don't have to say anything, just their presence with each other is enough.

This is usually the feeling with newly weds and those who are in love, but its stronger among

    the Believers and saintly personalities.

  13. Salaamz,

    A few yrs back,

I had some boys who would spend all their money

on 'new shoes' or a fade/haircut every week, some would get their nails done too.

They spend more time grooming themselves then most girls.

'Yo' I gotta look 'Pimped Out''

I hate those type of men and u know for all the time my boys spent on themselves, on their fades and new gear every week, I still had more 'GAME', cause its all in the personality.

This new trend of 'Metro-sexuals' is sickening.

Its obsessive and the obsession is with yourself.

Its a very 'Feminine' trait and a definite sign of the times. Role reversals, maybe!

  14. Salaamz,

let me tell you what I do with student loans

since I'm in my 3rd yr now of 'Payments'

Ok, please write this down somewhere and keep

it in you borsoos/hand bags, stuffed away.

    10 STUDENT LOAN 'PAYBACK' COMMANDMENTS

    10. Never tell them that you WORK, if u're not making much, cause they'll want Paystubs not matter if u made $1 or $10,000 a month.

    9. Never give them the right Phone Number, especially your Work Number. One time I was applying for interest relief and they asked me

if my work number was the same and I already told them that 'I ain't working'.

    8. Never, ever let your Relatives who just came over, pick up the phone from Student Loans. Wa loguu fadhaneeya! Relatives being proud of who you are, will tell them in a minute

    - Where you work and what your position is

    Its over then!!! :(

    7. When the Loan center calls, tell them that you would or are Applying for Interest Relief.

    6. When the Loan center calls, speak to them in Somali and not English and say 'Waar Nafta ba no kayntean, biriiska baan qa liqaa karaen, Naadaya

    and Hung Up! :D

    5. When the Loan center calls, JUST DON'T PICK UP THE PHONE. Any 1-800 number, ain't gonna be u're Abti or Habeyera's number. Its a CREDITOR!

    4. Double Up on your payments to get rid of them.

Student Loans do show up on your Credit Score

and never Default them or u're mess up your Credit for a Long Time.

    3. Use as little as possible of the loan money and ask for as little as you need in the first place. U can make do, if u pay u're tuition by semsters, monthly and get student jobs at school and grants from the school. It can be done,

you just have to be a Disciplined!

Which means no maaqaxeyeds for the semster!

Eggs for Breaks, Tuna for Lunch and Dinner!

    2. Get a line of Credit from the Bank that has a lower Interst Rate and use all of it up, to pay the Student loans which have a ridiculous Interest Rate!

    1. APPLY for INTEREST RELIEF and save u're money

and pay them bank in chunks.

There are many examples where European law-givers used principles worked out by islamic jurists in various branches of the British common law.

If I am to follow your line of thinking here walaal, then I can interpret what you saying as giving 'Praise to Islam' for British Common Law that takes the ideas of 'Freedom and Liberity' as the ultimate goal of Law and not GOD.

In other words, Islam deserves credit for giving birth to and supporting 'Secular' British Common Law.

I think the simplest answer is as follows: A lawyer represents his client in legal matters, thus he takes the rule of the 'wakeel'(attorney). So being a lawyer in the west is perfectly fine as long as the branch of law that you select is one where you're able to practice without breaking the laws of Allah. So you can only be a 'wakeel' for another in pursuing what Islam allows him or that other person to pursue using Islamic means but not where he pursues what the Shari'ah does not recognise as that person's right or via using haram means. For example, representing someone as a practicing lawyer in the west, to buy or sell a car may be OK but not representing him to buy a bar, and so on. Another way of looking at it is: One can represent another to do something which the Shari'ah allows him to do for himself, but not to do something the Shari'ah forbids him doing for himself. And in

representing that person, one must use haram means e.g. avoiding cheating, fraud etc.

The principle is quite simple and straightforward, though the application in

today's world might be difficult and testing.

It ain't that 'CRYSTAL CLEAR' saxib as the saying goes
'The road to Hell is paved with GOOD INTENTIONS'
    [/QB]

You know the Shariah is not so CUT CLEAR in alot of things and the rules vary based on the circumstance and the person.

e.g. A blind thief might not get his hands Chopped off for stealing but a normal every thief might be ordered to get their hands choppped off.

You know sometimes in our sincerity and hope for our fellow family members, nomads and muslims to do well in the dunya and akhira, we encourage them to persue certain things that might be harmful to them.

Case in pt., I have an uncle and he is looking for a home to buy and him and his xaas are asking me about home prices and how to purchase them since I have some experience in that field.

Now, last year, there was a hot debate about whether buying homes were halal or haram at my aunts house and my uncle was present.

Once side was for Haram and the other for Halal.

Anyways to cut it short, a yr. later now I see my uncle and notice that he has shaved his beard and he is living real 'phat' in his new home, not bought but rental and the kids are not raised on ISLAM.

So they ask me to help them with looking for a new home. Well, I got excited and tried to give them some tips.

All along forgetting that it might not be wise to help them b/c ISLAM is not their Priority in

their Household and that by buying a home, they would just be doing it for the DUNYA.

I don't know if this makes sense but we do need Lawyers in the muslim community but there are alot of grey and haram things in that field that make you responsible for your actions and most people will get swallowed UP by the TIDES

if they don't have the proper ISLAMIC FOUNDATIONS

    and IMAN.

    Easy...

    ('-denotes -ayin letter)

Meaning ' Allah I am Thy slave. I am the son of Thy Bondsman and the Son of Thy bondsmaid. My brow is in Thy grip.I am under Thy Command. Thy judgement in regard to me is just and fair. In the Name of all Attributes applicable to Thee and all Attributes which Thou hast reserved for Thyself or those which Thou hast reveled in Thy Book or have transmitted to one of Thy creatures or have hidden in the treasury of the unseen with Thee in the Name of all these Attributes I implore Thee to make the Holy Quraan the joy of my heart, the light of my bosom, a panecea for distress and a cure of my sorrows and perplexity'.

Dua better said after supererogatory prayers at night.

U can also say this dua when in distress and sorrow. The Prophet SAW said'Any person who offers this prayer while in a state of sorrow and distress, Allah shall alleviate his state of sorrow and distress, and bestow upon him felicity and rejoicing.

The narrator of this dua stated that the Prophet SAW said 'whoever hears of this dua must learn it and memorise it'

    Salaamz, walaal

This du'a I've been trying to find it in my du'a books but couldn't come up with it.

A shiekh that I know would always read it

after we would finish reading the quran.

Its a beautiful Du'a. If u have the arabic version,

let me know and what book or maybe off the net where I can find it.

I would like to have inshallah memorize it

and have the du'a hanging over my qurans in my house. Jazak Allah Khayurn sis.

    Fi Amanallah

  19. Salaamz,

Hey how come most of the posts are from

    the men.

    Where are the women at?

With all your Soldiers of Women's Rights,

only one posted about what women can do better

    then men and vice versa.

Opinionated, why don't u post something postive

about you gender. This is an opportunity for you to show us that you can say something 'POSTIVE'.

(Note:take it as u want (Personal attack or not, its the TRUTH))

I think that the SOL Dhumaar nomads are proving the point of some of the male nomads
