The problem is simple, this program was meant to address historical inequality between whites nd black in this country not poor white farmers. Keep in mind however that school do try to admit student from that background as well in their attempt to diversify their campuses. The problem is not poor whites or blacks but putilent little white rich kids
who can't compete for 98% of sweats but feel intitled to the the last two.

lol. But how do you address

To honest, i still think there is need for affirmative action in many places across the country. But i think it should be up to Universities and University presidents & administrations to decide whether that should be a factor in their recruiting process and also look into other appropriate forms in diversifying the campuses.

Like someone said it's best if it's income based and not race based. All people whether they be black, white, Asian, or Latino face many problems that stem from poverty.

Also it would be funny to see how the SC rules on this especially when someone who benefited from AA will rule against it.

    ^^ that don't mean jack.

somalis can't tell the difference between arabs and islam. this is how we will be mentally enslaved. our women are already trying to look like them by lightening themselves, dressing like them. somali nationalism is becoming anti islam

I don't know about that last sentence but I second your comment. I'm so sick of the Arabization of Somalis (and we seem to take the worst examples from their culture too). We need to be proud of our own culture and show the Arabs how it's done!

I believe women [ cultural Nazi type] perpetual this practise. Hopefully with peace we could eliminate it in about a generation or two.

It certainly seems that way. But it's just too convenient to just run with "conventional wisdom" and a pre-established narrative and conflate patriarchy, FGM, and terrorism all the while not contextualizing the practice.

  5. So I was going about my business this fine Saturday afternoon trying to catch up on the news when I came across Gawker (yes, I do get "news" from Gawker  ). I came across an interesting headline, "Privileged *****: Terrorism, Torture and American Tomorrows" which had what looked like to me a cute baby picture of an African-American girl only to find out by skimming it was a fellow Somali -- writing about FGM among other things.

When I read it there were a couple of things that stood out but I ignored it and tried to grasp the bigger picture only to find out this paragraph sums the whole article up.

"Being the token Somali girl with Privileged ***** is bittersweet. It's tinged with a lot of liberal guilt. I'm one of the lucky few, the four percent who are arbitrarily exempt from this antiquated tradition. The dual hermeneutics, the cognitive dissonance of this, puts me in an interesting position. On the one hand, I have almost zero authority on the matter. On the other hand, I'm by default more qualified than most Western feminists to talk about the practice. (For starters, unlike a sizable chunk of them, my objective isn't to tar Somali women with the label "oppressed.") ..."

This is not the landmark Somali people should be proud of. It's shameful. However, it's reversible so let's hope the gov't gets its sh%t together and let's work towards reversing this process.

    and let's do this!

  7. $8,000 dollars to rent per month, wow that's pretty expensive. Also the view is a grim one, I don't know who could live in that house, which brings my concern full circle -- why is it more than a million? I hope they are building those buildings with safety and welfare in mind, unlike the Arabs who build a marvelous building with faulty fire alarms
