Sorry gents forgot to put that in disclaimer, for those watching the show every time you see Omar (what a name he is trying to ruin) fast forward or switch channels.

How anyone can like The Wire but hate Omar is beyond me!

This is one of my favourite scenes of the entire series. Such a badass!

I'm doing him a favour - he needs to know that was tough to listen to with all those unnecessary pauses between words.

Indeed. I started watching the video earlier but gave up after a while.

  3. I'm recalling this story from memory, so it might not be as colourful/accurate.

The story takes place in the Hargega Cliffs. These cliffs are so high that, according to legend, anyone who falls off them reaches the ground below as pieces. Fardheere, an old cannibal who hasn't eaten for a while, is on the top of these cliffs. He spots a bootylicious woman walking down below carrying a chubby baby. In drooling over this out of reach blessing, he sings the lines.

Bal gabadhaa badhida daya ......................................Look at the booty of that lady

Bal baawdyo cadaanta daya......................................Look at her meaty legs

Bal wiil kaay sidato daya ..........................................Look at the boy she's carrying

Bal buluc-buluc diisa daya.........................................Look the softness of that fat

Badiyo boholaha Xargega.........................................Oceans and cliffs of Hargega

Niin xiimaayaay xidhaan..........................................Tend to block a speeding man

Nin duulaayaay dabraan...........................................Tend to tie a flying man...

Then he jumps and you know the rest.

    My last word
    Falaadh

    He would be proud! :D

Falaadh = ray -- as in the rays of the sun (falaadhaha cadceeda).

We have done that one @ Ganagsi

Now that I had another look, it seems you did dhaandhaan and dardar but no dhardhaar.

It's very different to the other two (and fair bit harder too). So I purpose it again: dhardhaar.

As for the question, in their heart of hearts, I think "Somalilander" would have chosen an unjust but functioning Somaliweyn rather then the sad state of affairs we have today.

I can't speak for the rest, but I would definitely choose that.

  7. My great grandmother had stunning Somali names for all of her daughters. The only one I can recall at the moment is Xulashi. Pity I forgot the rest. I'll ask my aunt. I was so impressed with some of them that I wanted to reserve them for my future daughters. Hehe!

Anyway, I hope these haven't been mentioned:

    Iftin

    Haldhaa

    Barni

    Jookho

    Asli

    Dheeg

    Dhamo

    Barwaaqo

    Tusmo

    Qorsho

    Bariiso

    P. S. The last name is to do with dawn (the twilight before sunrise), not rice as some of you might be led to think. :D
