It seems prime minister Abiy is flexing his muscle in Ethiopia. Soon the parliament speaker will be elected and Ethiopian analysts believe that he is going to be from Amhara ethnic group.

By consolidating power, Mr. Ahmed named the defence minister and the Finance minister from the OPDO, the Oromo party. He nominated six ministers from the southern communities including the candidate who was running against him, Mr.Shiferaw Shigute.

The Somalis got three ministers in this cabinet, and as we speak, former political prisoner Mr. Bashir Makhtal was released by Mr. Abiy Ahmed. It Looks that Mr. Ahmed is bringing the SEPDm, the party of former prime minister Desalyn to the fold.

Holac,

there are three Somalis , I do not know their region, but to make a good sweeping change, must Abiy Ahmed must fore Illey and appoint Mr. Mohamed Rashid, the chairman of ESPD , the Somali zone party. I think , he is Garre too.

Time for change.

Oh you are back. You are so enthusiastic and energized today.

Calm down a bit. There are 13 ministries staying the same as previous. Finance is not changed, so is foreign, but defence you are correct.(Defence, Transport and Communications all exchanged between Southern, Oromo and Somali)

Speaker of course has to change since president, PM, speaker were all Oromo. New speaker is from South not Amhara.

Actually if you divide ethiopia with straight line south north, most ministers are from South (South, Oromo, Somali). But before you jump, it was the same previous governments as well. North always had atleast one Afar, atleast 2 Tigray, at least 5 Amhara and Benshangul sometimes zero sometimes one.

From Southerners as well. At least 2 Somali, atleast 7 Oromo and at least 6 Southern. That was always the average. One time a Gambellan and one time Hareri.

Oo, waan ku salaamay, Gacan baan kuu taagay oo nin shaqadiisa qabsanaya ayaad tahay. No emotions, Ninku ma Artificial baa

Also, the attorney general is from OPDO party.

I did jump the gun when I said that Mr. Abiy is Tigray water boy, but his actions are loud and clear. It seems that this prime minister has a full mandate to remake Ethiopia.

The Tigray are not done yet. My sources tell me that just like the eastern Jeegaan in Somaliland who robbed  Somaliland, the Tigray guys have done few things that might hunt Mr. Ahmed.

First, the billions of loans Ethiopia took  for the last 10 or more years are due and the debt collectors are knocking the door. I do not know how it works , but certain loans from the international lender's amortization period like a mortgage are due now. THe Tigray have looted billions for the last 15 years. Six years ago the Ethiopian exchange rate doubled.  It was $100 =800 Bir, but when the Tigray raided the banks and withdrew large amount of foreign currency  from the national bank , it went $100=1600 bir.

Also, they are unleashing government employees like airline workers, teachers and others to agitate.

Mr. Abiy Ahmed must understand that without real changes in the Somali zone, Ethiopia will remain the old Abyssinia with different cloth. We need freedom just like the Oromo and Amhara region.

OO, I agree . The Somali, Southern and Oromo are getting their, but the real job is to fire your employer.

The Tigray still hold the military and the intelligence, and as long as they control that, it might be difficult to do any sweeping changes.

Again you have so much energy that you are not seeing the cliff.

The Somali party ESPDP is not part of EPRDF so your Abiy can influence some members from outside, and that is if he has same dreams as you do, but has no power to do anything about it. It is the only region in all of Ethiopia that has total autonomy. Only the Afar come close to it.

One fact you are missing is also that ESPDP itself is built and made by unity of 4 Somali parties. WSLF was maybe dominant and had both political and military wings, but others were also very influential on their own in Ethiopian politics, like the late Dr. Abdulmejid and Mohamed Dirir.

It is also one of the few regions where the political party and the government have a bit of distance. Not every government action is ESPDP. Clan elders have a big role to play.

There is some reflection from Somalia of course as is same people, in regards to regional/clan, but is very limited. All Somalis realize what is at stake in common as Somali in Ethiopia.

Thanks for the laugh.

So now you are convinced that the Russians and or Israelis cannot make for Tigray a computer program this far or without emotions?

I had no idea there was not a single project in the TP II for Gonder area, but Abiy told them their area will be gateway of import export to Sudan and they are happy.

The Amhara diaspora of course is already off the Abiy bus as you may know already from your fellow diaspora. The Amhara in the country have no choice and for the good of themselves and country better stick with Abiy and our galbeedi as consultant and strategist.

No excuses. You wanted power, you got power. You wanted to govern Ethiopia, you got to govern Ethiopia, you wanted to rule Ethiopia you got to rule Ethiopia.

Ethiopia is still poor and underdeveloped country with population of more than 100 million. You know what you are getting into. There was zero dollars in the bank and about 10 billion loan  and millions dead and dying with famine, wars in all corners and no country big enough rich enough neighbor to help, when EPRDF took power.

EPRDF had only guts. "Here is how Ethiopia needs to be structured to survive, follow us" People followed and the goods were delivered. From a country tittering on spliting up made it a regional power. From so many unhappy nationalities opressed identity, made almost all nationalites with self government and some even deveoping their culture, language, economy.

Don't start making excuses now before you even step to the batting plate.

if Mr Ahmed keeps up this pace, not long before he gets all the powers. this is Africa and is easy to consolidate power. There have been many cases where waterboy brought to keep the keys only, took everything.

Oo, Have you been updating your Cv? what happens when illey is shown the door? 😁

lol

A dictator cannot succeed with the Somali people. Can last a few years, but cannot accomplish any thing of significance. What made Illey successful to the degree he did and in shortest time but wide ranging is the following:

All the Somali parties in the kilil realized that the Somali is at great risk, greater risk than other nations in Ethiopia

The clan elders once shown the hard facts and risks suported even ideas they did not like for the greater good

All 4 Somali parties once united on common objectives showed trust and also solidly stood on those objectives even if some diaspora and also some areas showed hesitation when the going got tough

There is now following facts on the ground no other leader can undo:

Total autonomy

Plan to even change culture to fit the development plan;

Example: Culturally every society from Britain, France to China to Timbaktu has heirarchy of jobs professions..there are few Taylors, Waterman in British political top brass. In Somali culture you have the nomad at the top, the farmer next, hunter and other professions lower and lower. First the farmer needs to be higher. People cannot survive on goat meat or camel milk anymore. Settling and farming need to be given higher priority. Almost all groups agree on this. Therefore errors committed in some parts in this regard maybe condemned by the likes of our galbeedi here, but are innocent errors that need to be corrected.

The Somali is rebeleous/independent culture. If it was Illey dictating without support of politicians and elders would have lasted mere months or years and not achieve such wide ranging success in education, health, economy, security and to a degree governance as well.

Some ambiteous Somalis are envious of the opportunity Illey got, Some Somalis are obviously hateful, but most Somalis can tolerate even excesses and see them as government mistakes than intentional clan battles. The kilil has all kinds clans/subclans...of the Somali than anyther region where the Somali people live.

It is official. The era of despot Cabdi Illey is over in the Somali region.
After closed door deliberations, the DDSI party had elected Mr. Ahmed Shide as the new leader which officially ends the 11 year painful rule of Illey.
This selection will pave Mr. Shide as the new president of the region very soon. Also, the Liyu police has been disbanded as the security force of the Somali region. For the last few days the Liyu have been looting and pillaging communities while abandoning their positions.
Also, members of Illey family are been investigated by the authorities for the theft of millions of dollars.
It is an end of a painful chapters for a lot of Somalia. A very small group of blood thirsty group,  created and organised by the Tplf and Cabdi Illey have been overthrow thanks to the Oromo uprising. While many Somali including my self were looking to preserve the old order for the sake order and continuity, millions of Somalia want the total demise and the removal of the tyrants who oppressed them for so long. Just like the Oromo celebrated the demise of the Tplf order, for the millions of Somalis the end of Illey and his henchmen is a great relief and a new era of freedom.

There were some security concern about the disbanding of the Liyu police and the threat of anarchy and outlaws in the countryside, yet for most people, their disbanding was a relief. Analysts believe that the Liyu is too criminal or murderous to be a force that might fight for independence or even tribal reasons. They were trained to kill and abuse Somali and will not be needed in a land where people are seeking justice and freedom.
It is mind boggling how a small ruthless group had managed to oppress and control millions of Somalia for so long. They acted like there is no one else but themselves.
Now, Illey and his supporters must accept the new order and collaborae for the peace and development of all Somali. He and Tplf wanted to finish off the Somali and createa long  civil war between the Somali and Oromo. There were a lot of victims, but we hope the worst to be over. He gambled to the lives of thousands of Somali to save the Tplf order. After he lost the gamble, he continued to the destructive route until it is too late.

      Very sad news.

Nothing is known yet from the police, but the media is reporting that he died from gun shot and the hand gun colt has been found in the car.

      galbeedi,
Why didn't you bring the most important news for you, the oil well to be drilled announced by Abiy?
Why this go around to bring civil war among Somalis? What do you gain?
Why is the area where the pipeline to pass more useful to you than the area where the prospective well is?

Why cover with Iley why not say the main motivation for you the trade route?
