Thanks OO. Yes, agree, SFG should help Puntland, as well as SL, as long as things done  through proper channels.

The Arabs don’t care much about building successful thriving ports in Berbera and Bossaso. All they want to do is forestall Turkish ambitions in the Horn.

If they were serious about these ports they would have equally played a hearts and minds game like the Turks do—to gain the support of the Somali people,  but they really bungled it up when DP World CEO made seemingly unprofessional statements challenging the unity and sovereignty of the Country.

So we shall see what their next moves will be.

DP World does not have any money to spare. THey are pinching every penny in Berbera. The freight that used to came through Wajaale is no more. People are broke from Berbera to Wajaale. They have fired already a third of the workforce.

The intension of DP is to hold Berbera as ransom until other issues including the geopolitical issue of Djibouti , Aden (Yemen) and Somalia is resolved. THey will suck the money out of Berbera and throw few bucks to the ruling class without investing any real money. Hoe can an agreement will be signed in spring of 2017, and then again in 2018 with another agreement. The fact is that Siilaanyo and those hungry boys cashed few millions for a port that is worth half a billion dollars.

Muuse Biixi could not find one single region in Somaliland to support this move. Mogadishu even told him that there will not be any useless talks in Djibouti or any where else. That was probably the main reason he was crying.

:D

I love the brave face you are putting on. Like DP World Chairman said "Talk is cheap" now they need to back it up with concrete actions that will actually affect the status-quo. :D That is what counts - not empty donkey cry - heehaaw heehaaw. The only thing they succeeded in was noise pollution.

The Berbera Port agreement stands and in fact the new shares have become affective as of today when Ethiopia appointed their Director to the Board of Directors.

The next step is the breaking ground for the new 400m port which is expected to be completed by end of 2019.

Every single day will be reminder of the powerless Donkeys heehaawing from the sidelines, unable to do anything about the goings on and what have you..

Stay tuned, I will be making the most of this for the next few years. :D

Sherif Hassan Shiek Aden is on the move to oust the speaker. I am not sure if it has to do with this motion on DP World.

This man is always trouble maker for every government from first TFG till this SFG. Never goes away, never rests, never hides..amazing.

i think that shariif is using juju u cant get him out, last year sfg and south west parliament together tried to get motion against him but they failed.

Which Somali Parliament are you talking about? Djibouti's, or the one in Jigjiga, or the one we have in Hargeisa, or the one in Xamar whose members are for sale like the sheep in Burco's livestock market? Be more specific next time please.

Anyway, this motion for Somalia has nothing to do with Berbera and is very bad for Puntland's economy. The Somalia SFG should compensate Puntland's loses.

I am amazed at the skill and indignities and sometimes having no shame, but still outlived every warlord, MPs, prime ministers, presidents almost the whole country.

And sometimes he even played critical roles in breaking things. Bending the will of the people and sharing in clashes between tribes in Mogadishu and benefitting from it.

I hear the Ethiopian minister has taken it personally and mad at SFG PM and by extension President Farmaajo.

The issue is that the DP Somaliland agreement is almost 2 years old.

DP has been running Berbera for some time.

The Ethiopian minister made 2 trips to inform Mogadishu that he has been offered shares and one time it was along with Somalia Ambassador to Ethiopia. Somalia PM was explained to and told the details.

Parliament of Somalia did not bar Ethiopia from doing business in Somalia which should have done since the main reason SFG is now active about the agreement is ETHIOPIA.

The issue for the minister is that not the shares or the business, but hate campaign on Ethiopia and he happens to be Somali.

Somalia ambassador to Ethiopia will be summoned and requested to explain why the hate campaign now as if SFG never knew about this long ago. Other than the hate campaign Somalia's opposition to the agreement is in her own right and for Ethiopia has and had no other designs than business. Djibouti right now before and after will always be more critically important to Ethiopia even as Ethiopia has close and friendly relations with Every region and Somaliland. Somaliland has been closely working with Ethiopia and most importantly kilil across many fields of activity.

Why was Ethiopia not barred from doing business in Somalia? Just a question.

I wish. Would have made money in both cases 24 hours. How about Tigray AI

What do you think of the question:

Whay Somalia did not ban Ethiopia from doing any business in Somalia? Give it a try. Its only fair.

Yes the minister took it personal. You will hear about it. I am absolutely sure unless Somalia PM does or say something to address it.

Somalia does not need to ban Ethiopia from doing business in the country, as long as the business is mutually beneficial for both countries. What is being prevented is the illegal attempt by the Tigre  and others  who are trying to steal Somali national assets,  by throwing a few scraps to a few secessionist traitors.

That is hipocritical and you know it.

FYI Tigre are an Ethnic, found only in Eritrea, that are about 1.5 million people. Their Language is Tigre

Tigray are in both Eritrea (about 2.3 million) and Ethiopia (about 6 million). Their language is Tigrinya.

Both these peoples have same origin like cousins. Both Tigre and Tigrinya are far enough to need an interpreter, but close enough to make out 25-30 percent communality. Bth originate from Geez (like latin for Europeans that is only used now in Churches). Geez Tigre Tigrinya Hareri Silte Amharic (Tigrinya Agew and Oromo mix) seems how they born and grew separately.

Back to topic.

The Target, the reason, motivation of the whole excercise is Ethiopia for persons like you. That is a fact.

Just do not take the Somali people to another war with Somaliland before you even have a house in Mogadishu. This time will be total devastation. People in the hinterlands do not have economy to last a season unlike the 90s where they had ability to withstand some months and years of chaos. Even then the famine happened and foreign countries had to help.

If as you say the target is Somaliland, then don't you think that you are only deepening the bitterness?

If you are willing to act and war based on your past sentimentalism, don't you think Somalilanders would have past sentimentalism as well?

Negotiation should be the only and only way. Its humaine, constructive and better relations regardless the results, for tomorrow. Its also guaranteed to bring results. Will also limit foreign interference.
