Pan somali ideology ??

Stop grasping at yesterday's failed solutions and aspirations.

what the country needs is division into clan fiefdoms at the smallest level. Nothing else will do.

Your are exactly those who I see as the enemy.

History will judge you sxb because with your mindset, you are alone.

Now coming back to the topic, I have a distrust for the somali diaspora thing going on right now.

I have lived in Xamar for two years and know fully well that there is another agenda to the meeting. i know how ngos operate because I have been in this field for 2 years, living in Mogadishu.

Please check out my blog - www.mogatribunal.blogspot.com and follow my journey and a mindset we trying to create with like-minded individuals called PPG (Peoples' Progress Geoup)

Exactly. Then after a few generations, a pan-Somali ideology can grow organically from the grassroots level, which will set the stage for a future united Somali Republic.

But for the time being, clan fiefdoms is the only solution

Deeq, it could be done. All you need is a leader with vision and hard work. The political and the economic landscape in Somalia is static. Nothing has changed for thirty years , minus the calamities. Nations are transformed by new ideas, news realities and even technologies.

Tribal states will not work or can't adopt with realities of modern state. All you need is a group of like minded Somalis who would trust one another. The Somali people are sophisticated these days, they will not accept a corrupt tribal politicians masquerading as leaders. They may go along for the sake peace or personal interest, but will not give a hand or even collaborate with it.

In the eighties, the government was called " Dhagweyn, or Tii Doqonta ahayd". They saw many illogical or archaic rules to conduct or obtain basic services. When you ask them " how can they do this?, people used to say " waar ha dhagaysan Dhagweyntani hebel u tag ama halkaa mar".

Today's Somali governments are basic arrangements, where people set up in order to survive. Nothing new that could change peoples perception of government or transformational systems that could replace the old have been introduced.

I have seen many shocking articles that you have posted lately, which highlights the enduring realities confronted by the lost tribes of Somalia. If people are left with their own whims without guidance expect anarchy.

Look in the diaspora, no one needs tribal loyalty or help from the clan. WE must introduce new ways of life where the citizen no longer needs the clan to succeed. Even the age old Somali ways of sharing every thing must be discouraged. A new motto must be propagated. " if you are breathing you must be working, if you are not working , you are not eating".

So far nothing new have been introduced in Somalia. Can you imagine 1.2 billion chinese are registered and their activities known. They even know when your child is born, or if you have more than one. How can you monitor if someone is having more than one. Well they did. Every where citizens are registered with matching numbers, except in the lands inhabited by Somalis.

Mr. Deeq, all you need is a few good men and women who are willing to break the deadlock. While politics is a local , it is up to the individual how he intends to play. You can fight with your immediate sub clan or " Jilib", you can fight your immediate neighboring clans or you could think big and play the politica above the fray.

THe Enemy of the Galgaduud guy is the next door Galmudug, The enemy of Burco is in Garowe, and so on . We all need enemies, it is part of human nature, but you could push the border little bit further than your brothers.

Finally, I believe it could be done .

Pan-Somalism needs to re-emerge in a new form. Mistrust have grown and Nationalism in post civil war countries (somalia &Somalia) and regions (Puntland, Galmudug etc) is high. We simply need to understand inaan lakala maarmin, then gradually create free markets, may be shared security, unified foreign policy and similar initiatives. during which each federal state or country (In case of Somaliland) retain their national identity and elected administrations....through continuous desensitization the mistrust between Somalis is outgrown......places like Djibouti, Somali regions of Ethiopia and Kenya should also be included , first by involving the free market (this may involve the whole occupying country as ethiopia or Kenya)...

Careful and well-thought ideas that are free of sentiment are needed to erect a healthy Pan-Somalism....Shanta Soomaaliyeed is a dead dream (for now) ... "Far yari togdheer bay kugu ridaa" or as reer muqdisho say, "luuq luuq maraw laasim laamiga imaan"

Coofle, you could be right. That emotional attachment of great Somali is almost disappearing.

Where can we start. I believe free market , trade and mutual security is necessary for our survival. Somaliland ha la soo qabto ooo dalka hala mideeyo is no longer a reality. Voluntary union is the way to go. I agree Djibouti is and always was part of Somali territory, why not add in the mix. Trade , peace and removing of the barrier could be the start of process.

Reach a lasting peace among the communities, and then move to the next step.

Since the Pan Somalism of the last century is difficult to achieve in your part, where can we start. I am always optimist that about the future.

One more thing, coofle, from the Somaliland perspective, in order to reach that mutual understanding of " in aan laka maarmin", what is the best approach to achieve the desired goal. A loose union?, common currency?, please elaborate, since you seem well versed on the issue.

This is what Im talking about my brothers

Without getting carried away, I've been to Djibouti 4 times alone this month for conferences and with me being me, I tangled along with tbe people and made friends who I constantly visit whenever I come around. Trust me, they are really cool people mashallah.

Whenever we have conversations, of course since I'm guest (not encouraging) I had to chew along.

Anyway, it does seem that all they waiting for is this part of the troubled area to settle and from there, the are willing to this whole idea in order to raise the 'Somali name' who one officer friend told me 'is who we are in Djibouti, the land, the people Somali'.

My point, like you both mentioned, in terms of trade, I think possibly, we could have a potential hand already.

I think with other territories, (Ogaden region, NFD) it would be to much complicated with the sensitivie issues we have with their so called "governments".

With that relationship to prosper, (Dji - Som) this will only push others in.

But then again, how do we stop those roadblocks (UN, Igad, EU etc..) who are like a pack of hyenas

Encouraging debate wa qasab. Wadanka faraha ayu ka baxay waana nala qaadan raba. Waa haq iin aa iswaaydino, "maxa kaban kaarna"? For our children and their children..

Ma ila fahamteen? We gotta realise sooner than later, we going to have new bred of Somalis. Half ethipioan or whatever who they will guide to seek election one day in Somalia. This is the aim, to wipe our culture and language, a rich one with problems. Im not saying its wrong, but people, we have potentially the richest history on the planet!

I am not being all pschyo like "we do this or that" but encouraging debates is real damn neccasary. We must move from this "I think HSM is incomptent" or "Parliament is not working". Ok they not, but we can see they cant. These people we got here leading are not capable of asking tough questions or seeking to speak up when needed. No disrespect, but they dont have that on them.

But we do. We from the youth. Lot of smart youths here with excellent education but no moral because those in their "prime" (The average age of 40+ who are running the show here with ngos, business etc) are paying them 100$ a month! Yes!

And we the diaspora who are aware and read historic books, engaged with different groups, seeking, access to internet, we can do this.

Sorry if I got carried away, (I think these cool keypads I just downloaded of apps world are terrific) but I was checking out my keypads I just downloaded.

Last sentences is for those who are getting ready to bettle me with comments about me being behind a century or whatever they bring up. (Sarcasm)

But for those who feel where I'm going, please continue..

Mistrust among the Nomads didn't fall from the sky. It has been seeded, feeded and nurtured by greedy politicians, businessmen and koofiyad bacle oday reer for their small tactical gains.

Trust doesn't come easily without true concessions and mutual trust.

Can Somaliland concede to take responsibility for the well being of all Somalis and drop their interest in becoming independent country?

Can Puntland stop their psuedo federal project that benefit them as they have the head start but harm and put the spot light on the central regions?

Can mogadishu get over the notion that, everyone should be in tatters until the capital goes back to its lost highdays era?

Unless everyside relinquish some of their sacred political positions, nobody should expect any change soon. Ppl try to put tricky questions under the carpet hopping some kind of magical leader will come with magical solutions.

We have no short of diaspora/NGO nurtured gutless politicians who will carry that fortified poisoned positions whith new entuthiasm and militancy in Mistrust politics.

Warka oo kooban, Soomaali nin walba qumanihiisa ayaa qoorta ugu jira, waxay u baahantahay in kuushaas falan laga jaro.

Lool "Porn again Islamist" :-D

Pan-Somali nationalism ran its misguided course and ended up in the gutter. Today there are new realities, new nationalities, new ideas, and new energy which must be utilised for building a brighter future. Pan-Somali nationalism should be included in the history curriculum.

@Galbeedi...

In the case of Somaliland.

For now, I believe we should totally avoid the talk about Pan-Somalism... let the wounds heal..Some people still are sensitive about any project of Somali-Somaliland collaboration. Those might be personally inflicted by the Civil war on some individuals or in others who through second-hand account unconsciously picked up large doses of animosity to the idea from their parents and communities. The young generation currently view the Pan-Somalism project unfavorably. Somalilanders need to be left alone for a while and Somalia should first become stable and presentable.Any dialogue of Pan-Somalism is refuted simply by mentioning "Ma dadkaas dantoodii garan la'a baad noo wadaa".

The idea of Somaliland nationalism is becoming stronger and stronger, from merely a political platform in the 90s to nonnegotiable sacred thing. Future leaders when working on Pan-Somalism should never persuade somalilanders to a Single centralized government but Somalilanders should keep their identity and first gradually merge into superficial unity.

For the case of Regional states in Somalia...

I really really don't know...Puntland is an exception, but , on contrary to Somaliland, They still retain the sense of belonging to the rest of Somalia. Therefore, Things are easier...For the rest of Somalia, its not an issue of identity its issue of trust and ignorance. I will lying if I say I can propose a clear road-map to make conditions better, what I usually do is pray for a savior conditions and people...Inta aan midaw laga hadlin yaan lala midoobaa oo lala shaqeeya..

Finally the Case of occupied Somali Territories and DJibouti.

Ethiopia and Kenya should not be viewed as potential enemies...1/3 of Ethiopa is Somali region and Half the population are muslim, by Empowering the Somali people to take more initiatives in Ethiopian administration and forging strong political ties and Trade ties. We can have mutual relations, Our people living in dignity inside ethiopia and providing them with access to neutral trade routes....For kenya don't make a sweat, It might be short sighted of me, but bribe the government and things will be way better for us,,,same again, trade and political ties..Djibouti will easily join a healthy somali union. ..... We can be movers and shakers in Both Ethiopia and Kenya if we play our cards right.

If zionists had our resources and land, They would have made the horn one of the strongest regional and global powers, Ethiopia and Kenya being puppet banana states they control...considering they have not been Somalisized to the self-destroying habits we have...
