Ukraine and Russia

N.O.R.F

A geopolitical game is being played out in Ukraine with Russia seemingly taking the lead. Fascinating this is happening right now.

This is the usual bluff vs. bluff between the Russians and Americans. I foresee Ukraine joining the E.U, but the Crimea and some parts of east Ukraine will join Russia.

A win-win for everyone involved.

Russia might have taken everybody by surprise but we all know that their economy can't withstand any sanctions if they take military actions beyond Crimea. It's funny watching the west scramble after engaging in unnecessary wars with lesser powers in the middle east, maybe China will asserts its turf next.

It’s not all simple as that. The Russians have historical grievances and Putin feels he should put a few things right. He achieved that with Georgia and is trying his hand now in the Ukraine where he can argue there has been a Coup de tat with tacit support from the west. By getting the Ukraine Govn’t not to gravitate towards the E.U, he anticipated the fall out and maneuvered quickly taking everyone by surprise. He can now negotiate from a position of strength.

The ramblings of the US/EU won’t be taken seriously by Joe Bloggs with what has happened in the ME and Afghanistan.

All very interesting.

Let's not be selective with who ruled Crimea when! So many powers, at different times in history have controlled Crimea including the Byzantines, Mongols and Ottomans--And it's nothing unique to that part of the world. Lands and territories have changed hands since time immemorial...But what of it, if some Muslim power once ruled Crimea? I don't see the relevance of that to this particular stand off between the west and the Russians in Ukraine.

I believe Putin blundered in invading the Crimea-- which happened to be under Russian influence anyway. What does he gain from that besides push the rest of Ukraine into the welcoming hands of the E.U.

This is Devine justice. The godless secret communists I.e te Russians have a low birth rate: to the extent that muslim Russians from tartarstan, Chechnya, dagestan and the rest will make up majority of Russia in 50 years to combat this they have fought against Syrians and now God has unleashed Ukrainian nazis who are simpathetic to anything anti Russian including the growth of islam in Russia.

Ukrainians have finally grown a back bone. Russians starved 3 million Ukrainians. Partitioned their country and under soviet times treated them like dogs.

The Islamic world if they want to help syria should arm these Ukrainians. Because the destruction of Russia is a mutual interest.

This doesn't make any sense at all.

Anyway the Russian economy was collapsing before this military intervention and the Ruble is dropping to its lowest point is many years, the G8 is now the G7 and if the US freezes Russian assets and imposes sanctions then it's all over for their economy.

The Russian economy is not what you think it is: it supplies 40% of European oil and gas. Europe will never impose sanctions on Russia never. Because economically that would be a disaster for Europe America is another story.

This is not economic struggle this is a strategic, demographic and a political crises. Russia needs Ukraine because it has its own economic union in its former soviet states but the Ukrainians are tired of Russia and want to be part of Europe so its a tug of war for future strategic interests.

Russia will implode from within ad the Ukrainians joining Europe will weaken it further.

The Moscow stock exchange is already down by 12 points today and the Western world's backlash has not even started. Putin has bitten more than he could chew.

^^^ stocks go up and Down based on perception: it will go up and down based on investor confidence. However that like I said Europe will never put sanctions on Russia or else all our gas bills and petrol bills increase and if that increases all our products prices go up.

Islam will conquer Russia trough demographics eventually.

Ukraine joining Europe just limits Russia's economic future strategic ambition.

Putin is our only saviour against the EU and the US. the people of the Ukraine cannot be fooled into a ''Ukrainian spring'' despite the facades of martyrdom we see from the rebels. the west attempted to start a revolution in taksim square against Erodgan but they failed miserably. now they have an ex James Bond girl and ex-boxing champion in their ranks as they launch yet another proxy war. we are not impressed ee ya uu sheega.

for those of you making snide little anti-Russian statements isku xishooda please and cease from promoting western hyperbolic nonsense. i don't have to remind you of Russia's nuclear deterrent capabilities and huge energy reserves.

what exactly does the West know about Russia?

it's not like in Somalia where the western calamiga iyo deeqbixiyaasha folks make decisions for the government like in Ukraine.
