Jennifer Grout, the American woman who narrowly won the "Arabs got talent" contest , coverts to Islam

A video has emerged of Jennifer Grout declaring the shahada and reciting the Koran in a what appears to be an authentic video posted on Youtube.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tKT_NVOOeC8Here is some background information from the UAE's The National.

The 23-year-old American singer, famed for her pitch-perfect rendition of Arab classics despite not knowing the language, seems to have accepted the faith in a YouTube video released on Sunday.
The video has her declaring the shahada – otherwise known as the declaration of faith – in front of two men where she states: “There is no God but Allah and Muhammad is His Prophet.”While the video remains to be confirmed by Grout, the Moroccan news website Morocco World News confirmed the video was recorded in Fes, where Grout presently resides, studying the Arabic language; the young man beside her is speculated to be her fiance.*The news caps a whirlwind five months which saw the Bostonian reach the Arabs Got Talent finale in December after a series of spellbinding covers of the legendary Arab song birds Umm Kalthoum and Fairuz.Speaking exclusively to The National after bowing out of the competition, Grout said she planned to spend the time after the show contemplating her future.“I don’t know yet,” she said.“I am now just enjoying these moments and later I will sit down and think of what to do next.”

her debut appearance with oud and almost Umm-Kalthoom voice was dramatic as Susan boyle in British got talent....Arabic music could use some non-arab perspective in hope to polish off the repetitive dull style. ...... gabadha inta danbigu ku yaryahay wadaad amiir ah ha lagu laamaaneeyo!

Man, the deen has been cheapened. These 10 seconds Shahadas belittle the value of Islam.

Don't convert because of social pressures because then your heart won't be in the deen and you will end up leaving it sooner or later.

Yaa khayr...u kaadi wadaad.... You never know what is in the hearts, Remember a HAdith about a sahabi in Jihad and his opponent murmured the shahada while the Sahabi was almost killing him, The sahabi did not stop and killed him....The prophet peace be upon him was disturbed by the occuring and told the sahabi you don't really know what is in their hearts....

The incident in which a man who was from a tribe that was aligned with Quraysh comes to mind. That man was caught and when he was caught, he professed to have accepted Islam.

The reply to him was that if he had been in a position of power and not a prisoner and had accepted Islam then his Islam would have been accepted. Rather, he professed Islam after he was caught.

The point being that what is in the heart is expressed outwardly. If you are choosing Islam then you would show signs of that e.g. modest dress; hijab; renouncing a singing career etc

Islam is not a marriage of convienance

and it shouldn't be cheapened.
