Mandela’s Socialist Failure he really didn’t disturb

I am suspecious of anything from that is accepted and posted by

NYTimes.

Having said that, it was a well written idea.

If one disturbs these mechanisms, one is very swiftly “punished” by market perturbations, economic chaos, and the rest.

So true!

I can never trust someone that is praised by criminals and murderers. Evil does not praise goodness.

Mandela was a hand picked alternative for South Africans.

If I tell you that we are equals but that my clan will continue to own the largest homes and your clan can't have large homes - are we still equals?

"I want to believe that Mr. Zizec's interesting thoughts don't imply that there has to be a pool of blood to be crossed on his way to socialism."

This is one of the comments from the article and it happens to be the main criticism of the author i.e. a shift of power/(ruling ideology) can happen through peaceful means. I have to disagree.

THERE MUST BE BLOOD.

so what would you have suggested ?? abrupt uprooting of the whites and redistribution of the resources ala zimbabwe. we know how that worked for bob mugabe.

I think that that man weighed up his options very carefully, and has come to the best of bad options, i.e, progress for the majority through peaceful means, as a result sizable black children have an access to education, healthcare (may not be perfect, but better than probably many in the continent) etc.

The rest is left for the ANC to sort out

Couldn't agree more with that those words. He has done his bit, the rest is left for the current and future leaders.

No that's not a solution, they can't slap the whites let alone uproot even if they wish.I think the best to come up with is already laid its foundation by Mandela, peaceful coexistence where whites pitch in help blacks and gov't allocate certain %.one thing you have to know is Africans with good number of settlers have been much better off than the rest of the continent like Kenya, zimbabwe and Ivory coast, the latter 2 destroyed by the black man.Black S.Africans still better than most.

All he did was free South Africans from apartied. I mean, thats nothing!

I'm sure he freed S. Africans from apartheid. Just like Martin Luther King freed blacks from slavery.
