Yes, you read that from me, first to report this, today, Thursday, 19th of September 2013, Ethiopian Airlines flight ET 308 is coming to Hargeisa.

Things to note are:

- The scheduled aircraft is NOT Boeing 737-800, the one we witnessed few weeks ago, can't handle the runway.

- The scheduled aircraft is DHC-8 Dash 8, is ok with the current renovated runway

- The flight time from Addis to Hargeisa is 1 hour 45 minutes

- Arrival time 11AM local time Hargeisa

Now, where is Alpha, you don't know what is going on there laangaabyahow ehlu naarka ah

Daalo and juba use still 737 to land HRG why E.A

Daallo and Jubba use old one's, that is 737-200 and 737-300 which is banned aircraft from the rest of the world due to its noise, so the question is, why is Daallo or Jubba using these banned aircraft.

Does it stop anywhere before getting to Hargeisa? It would be nice to be able to fly to Hargeisa from Dire or Jijiga.

No it is a direct one yaa Safferz.

Alpha, the Dash type plane is a small one about 50 passengers, so even if you live beside the airport, you can't hear its landing or taking off.

The plane landed at 11AM this morning, and left 11:57AM.

There is no much report or news in to this, but one thing remains still unclear, will this plane be used for Hargeisa airport from now on as an scheduled service, or it was a test flight only.

At least, the Somaliland government worked hard to get the Addis to Egal Airport back on track no matter what type of plane is used.

Alpha, then you need to stop talking about aviation in general, you forgot you were a self-designated spokesperson for Somaliland Aviation for the past few weeks, inaar.

What does this mean for the other two somali owned airlines?

Sounds like all the business would go to Ethio Airlines.

That is not a good move for a small village that wants recognition.

Doesn't bother me as long as the Somali airlines are flying those old deathtrap Soviet planes. It's terrifying (I saw a crack open up upon landing on my Jubba flight once) and only a matter of time before we hear of an accident.

Flying EA is also a helluva lot more convenient, especially for those of us who are traveling from North America. My almost two day safar of Toronto-Amsterdam-Dubai-Djibouti-Hargeisa is now replaced by Toronto-Addis-Hargeisa.

People are still not happy with Silanyo administration of handling the renovation. We still need answers and it is only healthy to be skeptical of the government propaganda...whenever they say Madaarka that is airport, right? I have Somali cable box that transmit all the Somali channels and looks like people in Hargeisa are talking about this Madaarka

What difference does it make? as long as there is a proper diyaarad landing in hargeysa dhagaxley?

True. We just need an aircraft to take us AND OUR LUGGAGE to Hargeisa.

.

Because the owners of these companies are Somalis who would not hesitate to treat their fellow Somalis like animal just to make a little profit.
