Maqane

The UK's decision to follow suit is based on security and
international considerations
, in particular concerns the UK could be used as a transit route for khat to other European countries.

Aha..

Well, UK is the headquarters of the Khat for European countries. Hadda bay indhahooda fureen laakiin waxaan u malayn in ay sanado badan ku qaadan doonto si ay uga guulaystaan Reer Marqaan because it's too late now.

Alfoow, it seems we have underestimated Mr Cawaale's reach. His campaign has achieved success beyond hope but on the downside, the anti-khat mashruuc (monies) will run dry now, huh?

Cawales are quite something, ma istidhi? balse, this cawale, in particular, will be credited with BANNING the chew, ma garatay? :D

LOL@Unders,

what advice do you have for UK folks? does sitting in Starbucks and sipping endless cups of coffee do it for y'all? :P:D

no coffee will not do it. There will be a real issue here. I guess some will try to apply for social assistance and then go live in Kenya. However, that is not a long term strategy. I predict the price of khat will probably triple between now and when the ban goes into effect. Then after that maybe North American type pricing $70-$100 per majin.

The younger population will resort to more weed smoking and alcohol drinking. Siisha profits will skyrocket.

Someone should introduce odeyaasha to mild MDMA. Good replacement.

interesting projections there, ma garatay?

i was with my uncle and he said......''somali women in holland are already complaining about the over-presence/''in your face'' sort of presences of their husbands around, ma garatay? adeero....''

i says to him.......''but surely adeero, isn't that what they've been wanting all these years, ma garatay?....."

he says.....''no adeero, the women, have found new freedoms to date, socialise with their friends, set up business and stuff......, the husbands will ruin her self-independence and reliance, ma garatay? "

i says......"saas miyaa adeero? ileen bahalku faa'iidooyin kale duwaan buu yeelan laha, hadii sii ficaan oo cilmiyeysan loo isticmaalo", ma garatay, adeerka?

he says.....''waale, waa ruunti Alphoow adeero. balse sideen uu cilmiyeeya''?

i says....waaxa la sheegayey in bahasha Viagrada la yidha....loogu daraa, waad garatay?

he says.....sax. gartay.

i says....sida uula soco......adeero.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

I see it now....Khat in Europe was the biggest boost to Somali feminism.

This idiotic woman just turned a law abiding and tax paying community into criminals thanks to, no doubt, the head in the sand "ban it all" brigade, going even against the scientific advice that the plant caused little "harm". But the big blame lies with the inept Kenyan government who appear to have been caught sleeping on the job and will now lose a sizeable chunk of change.

I hope coffee is banned next, its mild high has caused endless damage to society and is really no different to khat:

Khat consumption induces mild euphoria and excitement, similar to that conferred by strong

Good riddance to Qat; it has ruined many a Somali family. They should ban it in ALL countries including in the Horn, not just in the UK.
