Moonlight what you forget is that president Riyale was voted in as president of SOMALILAND twice with a comfortable majority. Can you say the same about Somalia. Forget voting your president purchased his seat and had tribal support. Truth is awdal and las canod and all somalilanders have more to gain from SOMALILAND then they could ever gain in Somalia.

If he came back a year earlier, he might have got a job in the recent SL reshuffle. Never mind, eh! :D

I wonder what the reaction of the anti-Somaliland, 'Awdal-land' diaspora is to the humiliation of one of their leading luminaries in 'the capital city of their Somaliweyn dream' and his subsequent defection....

The guy is delusional to think that people will hand him power due to his education or credentials. Somalia is ruled by clans and the more you get to your side the better your chance is of attaining power. He came from a position of weakness with few delegates from an area that is mostly pro Somaliland and he expects to be crowned, people with high degrees sometimes fail to see the obvious.

^^ He thought Koonfurians were honest about their Somaliweyn principles he was proved otherwise now he lost president but why was he not made Prime Minister. Ofcourse the 4.5 makes it very difficult for him with a small amount of MPS. He honestly wanted to help Somalia, but Somalia is qabiil obsessed.

The professors finally understands that there is nothing for Somalilanders in Somalia, that you are only welcome in Somalia if you have servitude behavior and want to be fed left overs.

^^^ you learn something new everyday carafat your support of somaliweyn was a support for servitude. There is nothing south Saxib do you honoustly think it will fix up over 50 years of incompetence, it's the norm down south. Somali landers made somaliweyn when the Italians were using these people as bridges to walk over the shebelle river our forfathers were dreaming of somaliweyn not for qabil but for the greater good. Even the las canod folk didn't want to be part of Somalia in 1960. Today we have seen the light.

Samatar seems desperate these days ...being all things to all people. hadhow markuu noo yimaado , dhegeysta wuxuu yiraahdo :D

War ninkan anaga noo daaya :D

As for the mother clans never holding the top office, it takes certain political infrastructure which these families never had. In politics songs and poems don't win votes , our brothers produced renown poets but they have to yet produce a politician that transcends beyond local politics. Even Mr. Egal failed to harvest the low hanging fruits that Somalia's civil war produced ---the situation was such that conditions at the time procured political fortunes that only the family could leverage. But the sole statesman squandered the opportunity. They blame the 1960 union, while the real blame is their inability to think big and build the neccassary alliance to lead.

Siilaanyo cannot escape the chains of the past either, it is pity really to see him fight a lost cause.

But all is not lost, and I do have a confidence in the aspiring politician that is NGONGE. One day Somalia will be led by an Arab/Somali/Burcaawi .
