Arsenal looked good last night and that new defender looks solid. A shrewd man is Arsene. They will do some damage this year and will surprise many but they will pick up injuries as usual and no one to come in a do a job.

The season starts today folks.

Fabregas

yeah, fabregas is better or more effective with two Mids behind them rather than in a 442. but you're right about the strength in depth though.

Spurs liverpool should be good.I like Harry quickly builds good team and finds unknown players. maybe he would have done a nice a job @ one of the top clubs?

ps. it's the 100 metres world champ final this evening. Bolt vs Gay. of course BOLt will probably smash the world record again.

Liverpool don't look as smooth with mascher and lucas, two dms, in the middle. I don't see them doing better than last season if Aquillani doesn't step up 2 ALonsos plate. Personally, I would have Benayoun in the first 11.

Spurs should have a descent season.

The sonner Benitez realises that he doesn't have a creative midfield, with the likes of Mascherano and Luckas around, the better. Those two should have been sold long time ago.

For Ngonge

Benitez cut a subdued figure in White Hart Lane's media theatre as he delivered the evidence: "We have to improve in the middle... keep the ball and pass the ball better... as a team we were not comfortable in possession..."

He had the identikit player in his own possession to solve that last season - namely Xabi Alonso. He is now part of Real Madrid's expensive reconstruction and his replacement, Alberto Aquilani, is still some way from full fitness.

Javier Mascherano and Lucas have qualities to recommend them, but playing the killer pass or providing a constant supply line to what will be the main thrust of Liverpool's title challenge this season, Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres, are not among them.

Gerrard and Torres were marginalised by a chronic lack of service, and when Liverpool did fashion rare moments of threat, they were snuffed out by Ledley King and the outstanding Sebastien Bassong, who enjoyed just about the perfect debut.

The creative deficit left by Alonso was top of the agenda at the end of day when Liverpool were hot and bothered, irritable, out of sorts and well beaten by a superior Spurs side, who followed manager Harry Redknapp's demands to press their opponents into submission to the letter.

Redknapp was clearly delighted with his team and made no bones about how Alonso's absence reduced Liverpool's threat, saying: "They'll miss him for sure. He is quality. We planned to press Liverpool but it is hard to press Alonso because he can pass the ball around corners, do it first time, and get the ball into Gerrard.

"They will miss him but Aquilani is meant to be top class as well so we'll see."

^^ Nonsense. Losing Alonso is not the end of the world. Benitez still has a world class replacement in Gerrard. I still insist that he has to focus on his wingers. He should get rid of Babel. Bring back Riera and Banayoun. Have Gerrard play in his best position (centre midfield) and push put any of his strikers behind Torres (would be better when Aquilani is back and fit).

At any rate, the second half of yesterday's game proves my point.

Agree with Ngone. Riera and Benayoun are the answers. But Liverpool also needs one more good striker. Torres is predictable. Kuyt is good, but Torres isn't. They should a physically strong attcker.

In the defence, horta ninkan waalan ee Carragher la yidhaa taxaliil ha loo dhigo. He finished most of his collegues. Waa nervy. Then, they need to have a central defender with good ariel ability. Liverpool conceded many goals from set-pieces.
