The Block
were the ones that made Somalia civilized and one of the strongest countries in Africa. Inshallah we can do it again. No more bragging about Turkish schools/orphanages/hospitals/Bazars/pavements etc.

The idea of building Blocks is that all block are equally important for the construction. But you think some blocks are more important then others. :D

Guys,

Don't let the hecklers(i.e. Mr. Broken Crystal Ball) distract you from the issue at hand. It's an interesting competition shaping up.

While both sides are driven by clan-interest, what's most interesting is that one side has completely abandoned all public pretense at a larger Somali-wide interest and openly agitates for the clan-hegemony of the Siyad Barre days. All chips are being called in from 'cousins' in the neighboring countries, whether Abdi Illey or Yusuf Haji...

Meanwhile, there are a lot of other powerful Somali interest groups on the sidelines who will be forced to take sides by the attempt at a reincarnation of Siyadism...

Looks like another opportunity lost for Somalia to rehabilitate itself.

The Zack

Some have been telling us Hassan will out maneuver the enemy clan and crash the Jubaland dream. Those same people have now realized they were wrong, now they are showing crocodile tears by imitating they actually have patriotism in them. They want to tell us they actually worry about Somalia while they advocate for the dismemberment of the nation. Good Mintid is one of those...

That is what I like about Mintid, he never stops peddling that nonsense that is 'Irirism', a political invention that never materialize :D :D

^^Xaaji xunjuf,

No one is celebrating, it is just so happens some folks never learn how to govern, and always abort the whole thing in its early gestation.

Why would any leader who understand the Somali civil war spend time disrupting the Kismayo gathering ? Bal adba macno kasoo saar awoowe

XX,

How apt your advice is... Yet some never learn. Always counting the chickens before they are hatched.

This is an interesting game, indeed....

XX and Mintid seem to have realized that blocks matter in Somali politics ---one cannot just ignore the constitutional aspirations of entire segment of the society. Hassan Sheekh did that and for those of us who understand the Somali politics called him out early on.

Illyria

An important point to note is that the center can huff and puff for all it wants, but the it can longer dictate to the periphery which is where power is now concentrated. Arguing otherwise, going against the tide, and presenting counter-productive arguments are just futile. Up until the center accrues all the power in the land and can enforces its dictum unto the periphery, the center will just be as irrelevant as it is. The sooner Hassan and Co grasp that basic concept the quicker the country can move on.

I still think issues can be resolved. Its only a small group consisting of Xiin and co beating on the clan federalism drums. The central goverment can still gather greater awareness and support by facilitating inclusive regional reconciliations. Something Somalia hasnt seen so far.

Two things will be very important the next coming weeks

This trip to Ethiopia and what Ethiopia's reaction will be if they support the state or not or if they remain neutral.

The conference scheduled to happen soon In Mogadishu.

Ethiopian trip is already a success.

Ahmed will have to come back to Kismayo to tend to certain internal affairs in Kismayo (his friend and lieutenant has been wounded, and has been flown to Nairobi)

Mogadishu conference does not seem to be practical (the government has put itself in a corner it cannot maneuver ).

Hassan Sheekh has been humbled.
