As Jubbaland Consolidates its Authority in the Region, President Hassan Losses His Grip

Recommended Posts

1- As the result of this week's security sweep, Jubbaland forces has fully consolidated control of the city

2- With a show of forces in the streets of Kismayo , political puppets and claims of presidents for media consumption has lost its thrill

3- Regional powers and IC have recognized the Jubbaland political reality

4- Hassan Sheekh and his bad advisors has begun to scramble a way out (they have now changed the venue of the so called reconciliation from Mogadishu to Kismayo ...soon they will change the agenda as well as reality on the ground will dictate the terms)

5- In the next six months , the president will continue to gasp for political oxygen as his fear of the enemy clan closing him on from East and South exacerbates...but the progress on Jubbaland institution building will continue...naturally

ps. Baasto was one of the political balloons that has been poorly constructed by our hapless defense minister...but as many saw and heard, when the air was easily vented ,Mr. Fiqi's primitive design collapsed ...he is back onto sleeping airport containers again (what a pity really )

Is there any official press release to that effect?

President Hassan calls for an immediate end to the fighting in Kismayo

Office of the President of Somalia

Press release

Sunday, June 09, 2013

At a press conference on his return to Mogadishu today, President Hassan call for an immediate end to the fighting in Kismayo.

“I am very sad to hear of the renewal of conflict in Kismayo. It is so wrong to see Somalis fighting each other in this way, and violence cannot be used as a means to achieve political ambitions.

“The time for fighting is over. We must unite and seek to resolve our differences peacefully. We must unite for the fight against Al Shabaab.

“The Government will soon hold a reconciliation conference in Kismayo, as set out in the IGAD Heads of State Communique on 24th May."

His weakness, lack of leadership and double-talk is detrimental to the national interest, as he no longer has credibility on the issue, and has lost whatever goodwill extended to his government by the people, not just in Jubaland but in other regions of the country. In my opinion, he is no longer an honest representative of the interest of the people, but bids on behalf of a small group with vested interest. We have seen his hand, and the chips are down. Next one.

To my surprise, Hassan Sheekh has chosen conflict over reconciliation (his desperate talk of reconciliation has no credibility and will result in nothing ), and the conflict he chose is a one that he will have hard time prevailing. Recent events in Kismayo has demoted him as another leader out of many in the Somalia's political setting.

It is possible that this Kismayo thing will cost him the presidency for the issue is no longer about Kismayo or Jubbaland but about Hassan Sheekh's incompetence and smallness

The grave concern is he does not seem to grasp it. if he did, the malaise could have been easily remedied, but he does not, and it is very worrisome.

This defense minister is a pure embarrassment wallaahi --his mighty labor of spending his precious time in Kismayo produced mr Baasto :D , and twenty deaths. And when the going gets tough he runs for cover in Kenyan barricades and sleeps in airport containers

Soon, I mean very soon you will all realise Farole was right all along. Unfortunately boys and girls unless we see some drastic changes immediately, our first President of our renewed Somalia would betray us like the Boltons. He has an agenda which is of divisive nature. Any resident SOLers who have direct link with him should give him some advice if they can or we will head off a cliff.

From the feeds I am getting he understands some thing terribly went wrong, but he knows not what to do.

Read Mahiga's assessment of him in Miami Heralds :

The political process was supposed to include a parallel process of fostering local and provincial government structures. That, says Mahiga, hasn’t even begun, in part because President Mohamoud fears empowering rival clans to his north and south. There has been no movement toward drafting a permanent constitution which would enshrine a federal system.

Interesting. I did not read Mahiga's statement, but those lines are of interest.

The problem is not with Fiqi, but with Ahmed Madoobe and Co. why even let him in the city. I say kick him, Baasto, Hiiraale, and rest of wannabees out of the city. You cannot have multiple talking heads in the same city, and expect to maintain law and order. Get the house in tight order, and then play niceties. These minnows never respect order, and only speak one language that of thrust and twist. Niceties are for civil people with brains thinking of the interest of the civilian population in a major cities whereas these are savages burning their prodigies and eating them alive.

^^The Fiqi guy has been politely sent to Mogadishu

Or shall we say he finally realizes it seems that his stay in Kismayo has proven to be counter productive ,. to say the least. Today Mr. Fiqi flew to Mogadishu

No shame to the game anymore wad iska cadeysatay, what happened to the pretend 'peace caravans' and talks of unifiying Somalia and all that hog wash? I suppose that was when a man from your tribe was heading the TFG. Now that the other tribe gets their turn, and your man lost the vote, your ready to create states within states and carve out a tribal land so as to never allow a leader of that 'other' tribe to lead. Somalia seems to have gained unprecedented momentum in the International community and on the ground and I suppose you simply cant just go with that eh? The 'others' are pulling the strings right now and your afraid to get lost in this crazy thing called peace and stability? Why didn't they go ahead with a Jubbaland under Abdulahi Yusuf ? teach me about these southern inter-politics seems I'm missing something, it can't possibly be that simple.
