Secessionists are having a ball :) Or atleast are pretending to have one. Reason? Xiin is trying to figure that one out :) I on the other hand have a hunch why they seem to convince themselves with the age old narrative that golden cup is around the corner is at hand and D-block dominance in all things Somali is ending soon or is about to come to a screaching halt for good.

1. Secessionists have been received by the big shots in Ankara and London, their grievances have been heard and big shots agreed that the dominion will continuee to get its share of reconstruction fund under the auspices of SFG throughout the negotiation period.

2. PL is in entering a crucial political transition. As all political transitions in Africa there is a chance that things may go south.

3. There is a widening disagreements within the SFG in the implementation of the Federalism.

4. There is an alignment of policy toward the balance of power in Somalia between Mogadishu and Hargeisa.

**Waan isugu toos-toosiyey maadaama sidii qurxoon oo inna rag wax u oran jiray loo oran waayey ;)**

Xiin if what we suspect is true with the grief-stricken secessionts :), their excitement is well founded. The D-block's success whether in PL or JLrecovering areas is a cause of concern in some corners. So Ayoub, Mintid, AofS and Ustaad Oodweyne are looking to the stars for celestial alignment against particular clans. The reading is in and it foretall doom and defeat :)

Say akhrud to the juvenile discussions :)

The four points are current events and could make the gallery attentive if discussed a la akhyaar style.

The mental turmoil caused by Siilaanyo's habitual foot-in-mouth prompted this thread, and the one about professor Samatar, as distraction from reality. Not unusual, in that part of the map when things get tough brothers resort to madness iyo inay dharka xoortaan. Marka bal is dajiya! Stop panicking! Puntland's democracy should not cause you to distress.

Baashi, nimankaan shaahaan kula cabaa Somaliaonline. Mintid is a proven doc-ka-yeer, Ayoub waa mar-soo-bax. Oodweyne and NGONGE waa old friends of this forum; one knows what to expect from them when things get rough in the triangle.

Puntland politics is at its best really --we have been hosting the leader of Midnimo in the Twin Cites for this week so one is fully informed about the process of democratization in that Recovery Zone (as you like to call it).

Separatists are here to make noise, and I shoe them away

Baashi,

I dont think those 4 points will make a big diffrence for Somaliland as long as Independence/secession is not discussed. However what I and mand many others are wondering is where the alternative voice of the reasonabke Puntlanders is? What is your answer on those 4 points when you see the developnents, where is the debate? Puntland seems to have locked itself up in an imposdible equation. And that is were the current frustrations of Xiin and Carafaats enjoyment is coming from.

Oodweyne,

Awoowe USC folks are Somalis. They have their own grievances, ambitions, and understandings in Somalis and how Somalis should go about governing Somalia. Other players including -block have similar issues and understandings. The civil war scars are fresh and all sides sustained major casualties. They all want to move on. There is social contract in place. And even though all sides have different understanding or interpretations what it means, they all agree to settle whatever political differences they have peacefully and never go back to their old ways of winner-takes-all paradigm.

You see federalism, AS, foreign troops and stabilization program are different sides of the same coin. If they to want to succeed in getting this mamoth have a soft landing they will have to work together.

As to this Kenyan troops, well they are foreign alright. Kenyans ahve their interest in Somalia. No doubt about that. Now they are also a member of AMISOM force. They are here to help the SFG to get rid of AS. Same is true wit other foreign troops in Benadir and other localities.

What does not make sense to me and many other folks is this talk of singling Kenyans out. Awoowe quit this nonesense.

As to USC vs. -block. Awoowe waa dad wax walbaba ka dhaxeeyaan. Dhaqan, diin, dal iyo in intaa ka badan. Wax baa Allah isugu daray. Waa is dhaleen waa wada dhasheen. Waa isu dhaxeen. Dadku waa dirriraa deetana waa wada fariistaa, garamaa, oo heshiiyaa. Marka boowe sidaad mooday hawshu uma foga. Ogoow saldannada waa la isku maagaa oo waa lakala riixdaa. Haatan waxa meesha la isku hayaa waa uun saldanadaa iyaddana waxan filayaa in wax la isu ogol yahay.

Waxa ilaa haatan maaro loo waayey waa iddinka. Weynu dhowraa halka tiinu ku danbeysa saa hadal iyo is tusaaleyn iyo dood waa ku daaleyne e:)

Oodweyne, indeed all 4 points concern more Puntland then Somaliland. Why keep refering to Somaliland as distraction then deabting/dealing with it. Why arent Puntlanders discussing their futile poltics or at least coming up with reasonable alternatives. Thats something I really dont understand. But on the other, I neither understand the logic or rationel of piracy or theft for that matter. Makes little sense to debate it, its a wait and see if one can get away with it. Or in Baashi's case, distract with the birds and bees singing. :D

Jubbaland, and A Yusuf political career has too many posts in this fora. This is about Ayoub trying something he is ill-equipped to do

NGONGE

Xiin,

I prefer to talk about the PL election to be honest. :D

However, the real topic here is about the changing nature of Somali politics. The "tent" (as is evident by your and Baashi's recent replies on SOL) is being openly erected bang in the middle of Somali politics these days. It's being unapologetic and confrontational about it (from looted houses to Jubba and all the way to the SL/Somalia talks). But why the sudden change? Why does everyone suddenly sound like the Imam? For me, all roads seem to be pointing back to Hassan Sheikh.

This is the topic that towers above all the Kenyan soldiers, looted houses, secessionist celebrations and all the titillating bits we keep seeing on this site every day. It is also a (potentially) good topic.
