Negative tribalism is a degenerative desease that needs to be eradicated. That much is agreed. Don't confuse clan with clannism :). The former is THE building block of Somali society. Love it or hate it or despised it -- the fact that Somalis identify and equate their persobal/family interests to that of their kin, subcla, clan or even their umberrala tribe is a fact that cannot be wished away. As always true reformer would first try to minimize its influence and find another way to give confidence and assurance to tribalists that there social contract among all clans will treat all clans same.
