Apologies for my mistake earlier. This is the full dardaaran poem of Cali Oday:

Ninka ladanee laqanbaad ahayd, laabta galiyaaba

Ninkuu malaha laafaalugtuu, liidasho u filiye

Kol hadduu Lillaahida gudboo, kaa ladqabo diido

Libta inaad kasoo qaadatoo, lagado mooyaane

Wuxuu tiisii kaga laabmo oo, liiliyaan jirine

Hala lumee lafihii gaar noqdaa, magac ku noolaane

Cabdi Ladan kobtuu laaci, waa inuu ka laabtaaye

Shantii kibirka layliga ugalay, waranka leefsiiya

Lix meeshaad ku joogtaan dagaal, laabta ka ogaada

Haddii luqunta kore laydin jaro, lugaha meermeersha

Luxdanaanta kama soo hadhee, laliya duulaanka

Lalabaha sidaad ugu waddaan, laba jibaar geeya

The original one I posted was just a random snippet from a request I found online. Obviously the person requesting the full poem didn't memorize it well and got the author wrong.

^^No qabiil talk please. Gracias. :)

Here's a nice poem by Faarax Nuur.

Ingiriis Axmaariyo Talyan, wey akeekimiye

Arligaa la kala boobayaa, nin u itaal roone

Anse ila ah Aakhiru Sabaan, iligyadiisiiye

Orgigaa riyaha taadaxoo, oodda faaliga e

Waa duni hablihii loo ogaa, aqalka diideene

Anse ila ah Aakhiru Sabaan, iligyadiisiiye

Waa duni la kala iibsadayoon, nala ogeysiine

Waa duni akhyaartii go'dayoo, aaran soo hadhaye

Waa duni ninkaad aamintaa, kuu abees yahaye

Anse ila ah Aakhiro Sabaan, iligyadiisiiye

Waa duni xaqii la arkayaa, la arjumayaaye

Waa duni akhyaartii lahayd, iib ku doon tahaye

Anse ila ah Aakhiro Sabaan, iligyadiisiiye

Afka iyo adduunkaa hadloo, awdan sadarkiiye

Ninka gacanta midig oodan tahay, laga ilroonaaye

Anse ila ah Aakhiro Sabaan, iligyadiisiiye

Nimanyahow bal daya xaajada, lala aguugaayo

Odayaashan loo yeedhay ee, la anfac siinaayo

Asxaabihii bayna yidhi, gaal ha aaminine

Haddaad niman Islaamiyo tihiin, Aadan faracdiisa

Oo aydnaan Ilaahay ka go'in, hayna oodina'e

Hadduu awrka dooxada ku furo, eel kalaa xigiye

Inaga daaya yaynaan ku dhicin, bahal afkiisiiye

Alpha, do u know how much Professors/intsructors make at the University of Hargeisa and what sort of qualifications are required?

i earnt $400 per month. i spent about $300 and sent $100 via Dahabshiil to pay towards the money i borrowed for the ticket. i lived in a modern furnished guest house. electricity, water and other bills were reimbursed, too. so i reckon it was about $600 in total. this was and still is decent, relativity speaking. i taught 3 full classes at UoH. it was an experience of a lifetime. the admin were suspicious of me and dealt with me using the 'third way' (clearly not white, clearly not from here, and clearly Somali but also clearly a different type of Somali: a qurbojoog dhaqan celis full of kibir). i wasnt. they weren't nice to me. i didn't worry about their attempts to ridicule and stuff. i just deployed the white zealots, i cultivated. more worryingly, perhaps, the students were also suspicious of my qualifications. i didn't like this. they were right, you know........ because i wasnt even CELTA/TOEFL certified. i had passion and determination, laakin. they continually made enquires over my command and proficiency of the mother tongue. some thought i was an american negro, others thought a suju. i never told them. some circulated rumours, most were obsessed with figuring me out. i was a celebrity, you could say and i used to this to my advantage, if you know what i mean. extra classes at Al's pad were always full, dee. :P

there's always a demand for supposedly talented folks from dibadaha. but it's not so easy laakin. i had it easy. i was the only Somali on the international teacher's programme. i skyped my way to the job, dee. my somali colleagues were treated with disdain by the university management. they eventually drove me away as well. i was forcibly kicked out of the guest-house that i turned into a personal fiefdom. by that time, i'd already secured a full time job, and didn't need their accommodation and their BS. they also still owe me money. i have since forgiven them. i bequeathed it, let's just say. :D

good times. fantastic springboard to bigger things but i want to go back. i had sharaf.

i can help if you want.

Hobbes you have issues kid. Saffy I am strangely drawn to read 'far from medina'. i recall you being a fan of this djebar. know where can i get a copy online- torrent, pdf??

Sadly I was only ever able to find that book at my university library, I'm not sure it's in print (in English at least) since it's not one of her well known works. Fantasia: An Algeria Cavalcade is my favourite novel ever, but I don't know of any electronic copies. Worth purchasing though :)

Sweden's finest dedicated to my boy Cambuulo. we miss you homez. the struggle continues, inaar. real talk.

Everyday you give your more to receive your less. (Why?)

I know it's hard to believe that mess. (So)

When you get home and you feel depressed.(Just)

Put on my tape and relieve the stress

And yo, cut the system let it bleed to death

Ain't nothing but your mission never leave your quest

In pole position - speed up lead the rest

They don't need to rest, they need to see we blessed

Yo, life is like a tide - shit come and it goes

Somebody had to cry cus somebody wanted it so

You have to fight to feel the harmony flow

But it's hard when the light's both so far and so close

So when you fed up, and you tired of life

Keep your head up, you'll reach higher heights

Yo get up for the time is right

My people step up, and shine your light

Cus all of the trouble we've been through

And all of the evil that men do

Makes us harder the struggle continues

Come on my sisters and brothers and sing too

Feel how the harmonies link you

While the struggle continues

We got so many things to

Say and do now...

I know that life hurts. We all need a night nurse

I need to write words - I need the right words

To come across and make you feel my thirst

Without this so called freedom of speech I might burst

Transform the pain into a tight verse

Sendin' a shout out to all the freedom fighters

Throughout the whole U 'n I verse

Winning this struggle unless we die first

Yo when you hurt so much that it's hard to speak

And it hurts so much you can hardly breath

You wanna get up and fight but you far too weak

Feels like a too long night for your heart to beat

They wanna kiss and make up but talk is cheap

You'd like to dis 'em straight up cus you're scarred too deep

Don't be fooled, recognize the mark of the beast

Stay true to yourself and you'll be hard to beat

Cus all of the trouble we've been through

And all of the evil that men do

Makes us harder the struggle continues

Come on my sisters and brothers and sing too

Feel how the harmonies link you

While the struggle continues

We got so many things to

Say and do now..

I've seen so many different faces, different places

I've seen so many people strugglin' no matter the ages

From your grand dads grand dad to newborn babies

The answer that they givin' is all the same old phrases

I've seen the pain gone away with medication

And dirty syringes in dirty stair cases

I've seen lives slaughtered by dictators

Nowadays nothing is news cus nothing amazes

I've seen so much that is hard to write

But it seems that's just a part of life

And the people who make us apologize

Is the same who make people starve tonight

And when your mind sees no difference between wrong or right

And your life sees no difference between dark or bright

And when not wakin' up is your only spark of light

Remember, we got a war to fight!

So when you fed up, and you tired of life

Keep your head up, you'll reach higher heights

Yo get up for the time is right

My people step up, and shine your light

Cus all of the trouble we've been through

And all of the evil that men do

Makes us harder the struggle continues

Come on my sisters and brothers and sing too

Feel how the harmonies link you

While the struggle continues

We got so many things to

Say and do now..

The struggle continues till it suddenly hits you

The biggest one is the struggle within you

Kill out the hate that is bubblin' in you

Before your mental poverty ends you

Can you hear us.........
