They overstretched themselves and spent a significant portion of their best fighters in the absurd 2011 Mogadisho offensive. The remaining best are being pulled back to protect their most prized assets and leaders.

I wouldn't be surprised if those "trained fighters" the Somali websites write about are nothing more than Quranic school children being pressed into front-line service (aka meat shields).

Overstretching is what Amisom is doing now and that is shabaabs plan

Abwaan, credit goes to everyone in this goverment including madaxweyne shariif, cumar cabdirashiid who started the wars against alshabaab and farmaajo as well.

But we need to give more credit to the man who laid out the latest plan and is still executing it. Abdiweli made this his whole life priority. Security is number for him and he put his plan infront of AMISOM and AU and said I am giving myself 1 year to capture the whole country and they said fantastic. let us do it.

Watch this video documentary of how abdiweli vowed to deliver security and capture the whole country. waxaad modaa inuu time-gareynayay everythign.

Abdiweli's work is still underway and a new Prime Minister can change it but they must be selected first.

you like other condidates and that is fine but give credit where it is due ninyoow. it is the practice of waxgarad.

Mooge, I agree the credit goes to all of them and this is why I was always against the Farmaajists who used to say isagaa mushaar billaabay. Waxa idaacadaha loo sheego in face value loo qaato ma ahan ee waa in si caddaalad ah loo fiiriyaa.

Anigu Abdiweli credit uma diiddani ee waxaan rabey xitaa adiga inaan ku xasuusiyo in qorshahaani yahay mid degsan oo ammaanka dalka lagu sugayo oo aan qof gaar ah loogu saarin karin guushiisa. Waana runtaa dadku isku dedaal iyo qiimayn ma ahan, balse Abdiweli wuxuu ku soo aadey wakthi ay threat-kii iyo caqabadihii Shabaab sii wiiqmeen, sidaas baa xilligiisa more guul loo gaarey midka ku soo xigana waa ka sii jaanis wanaagsanaan doonaa insha Allaah.

Anigu marna uma diidayo credit Abdiweli taasna dhaqankayga ma ahan laakiin waxay iga ahayd xasuusin aan xoogaa kaftan ah ku lifaaqay si aan humour ugu yeelo.

Abwaan, little things matter. i agree with you the policy is all that matters. We know there are many who sqandered more chances because of bad policy and mistakes. Abdiweli ninyoow did his best. in the end it is the little things that will add up and make a big impact. let the progress continue. it will add up one prime minister after another.

You give them too much credit sxb. They are not lead by 21st century Rommel with a beard. They are a bunch of Macaalin dugsis who benefited from the wide support and trust of the Somali people (hence their early successes).
They've lost that now and there is no strategy which can bring it back.

Yes there is.

They must first desist from killing and maiming the Somali people. Secondly, they must renounce violence and have dialogue with whichever government comes to being in the coming weeks.

Peace and stability throughout Somalia is the quickest for all foreign forces to leave our soil. But then again, Al Shabab get their marching orders from rich Arabs in the middle east so ultimately they will never embrace cessation of hostilities against the Somali people.
