The Rainmaker (1997) probably the best film ive seen.

Followed by (some distance) and in no particular oder: War of the Worlds, Taken, Avatar.

Taken 2 is a waste of money. Dont bother. Very simple and underwhelming storyline. Clearly not a lot of thought, effort or originality went into the writing; comes across as though it was made in a rush just to do a follow up on Taken i.e. a #2 and get some quick money. I was very much put off by the quite blatant negative conditioning regarding and the indirect/subliminal association of Islam, muslims, mosques, Adhan with killing, violence, kidnapping and explosions. 4/10.

The last Batman, they should have called the film Bane because that character owned the film. Best Action film of the year and some twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat. Original storyline too. Definitely worth watching.

Skyfall 007. Good film and some interesting locations and characters. Having said that, the writers could have made it an excellent film by going that bit further and developing the storyline. The storyling was a bit simple and lacked originality in some respects (but I say that without taking anything from the characters, locations and acting). Bérénice Marlohe was, unfortunately, killed off too soon. Still, its worth watching and all in all a good film.

Sorry to hijack your post, this just reminded me of the best sci-fi film of the year: The Looper.

Haven't watched Looper yet. Is it worth watching?

^Good movie, the name says it all. Throughout the movie I was thinking why didn't the Rainmaker kill the Older version in the future before sending him back to younger version in the past but then I saw the end. That would have been a paradox.

I liked the part where the friend didn't close his loop, and how the Older version, now on the run, disappeared bit by bit.

The Older version's body parts disappearing scene was a great sci-fi-y take on classic mafia torture scenes. Brilliantly thought-out and executed. The Looper didn't have a traditional black-and-white take on good/evil nor a sick and empty "Killer Joe" type of complete disregard of morals or any sense of right and wrong. It was smart without trying too hard. I liked the ending the best (really couldn't have seen it coming).

Speaking of obvious endings: saw the new Bond film. Disappointing.

Looking forward to seeing this little indie film:

I'll definetely have that in mind when seeing it...

I really recommend the movie "good deeds". Such a moving story, it's really amazing how strangers can affect ones life...

5, Skyfall was watchable but leaving the theatre I felt uninspired, no adrenaline after-rush or desire to see it again, which is strange because I almost always feel that way with a big movie like Dark Knight Rises, Avengers and even Casino Royale. In Skyfall there is no real chemistry between the characters, In fact I found myself fantasizing future trips in my mind to Shanghai and Macau, rather than trying to figure out the plot.

Chimera, I agree it was of course watchable. I was only disappointed because I had such high hopes. Not that I'm a big Bond fan in the first place, but there are certain expectations that come with a Bond film; great action scenes, complex plot and gadgets (and of course Bond girls but whatever :D). Skyfall had a downsized plot (which is why the second half of the film drags for me) fewer action scenes (which I prefer though) and next to nada gadgets. Bond got Thor'd, he is no longer the world's greatest secret agent, but an aging and alcoholic agent who is accepted to re-join the MI6 only because M takes pity on him. Not sure what Ian Fleming would have made of this updated version of Bond :D

Javier Bardem's character is everything and anything at once, from being possibly bisexual to meditating to being tech-savvy. The writing of the character is forced, probably to make him a "different" villain and hence be remembered and celebrated like The Dark Knight's Joker. In both attempts (of humanizing Bond and creating a legendary villain), John Logan should have looked a little deeper and a little longer at Christopher Nolan's Batman scripts.

Wait-- why do I care!

The Bond villain was good and creepy, the gay comment cracked me up, but the rest of the movie felt non-Bond, and more like a bootlegged Batman Begins/Dark Knight. This movie also shows you why you need to take critics with a grain of salt, they actually call this one better than Casino Royale. The Bond girls were meh, both aesthetically and charisma wise, If they needed a Black Bond girl, they should have gone with Zoe Saldana, and what's with offing that other one so quickly? It didn't serve the plot at all, other than bring Bond into the arms of the villain.

I saw 'In Time' on Bluray, the concept is great but I found myself laughing at the non-funny moments several times, most to do with Justin Timberlake's acting, you should see it.
