I don't think these people represent the people of the region they are just people paid by iley and the tplf . As for the gathering an epic fail look how empty it is

The irony! Loool

If these people don't represent the people of the region, then why do you think Abdi Xabsaade, Maxamed Baashe and the 5 other guys in Hergeisa that hail from Khaatumo State represent the people of Khaatumo State? Lol :D

Faafan

I see a depressed atmosphere of Ethiopian Embassy staff and "selected invitational delegates" in that room lacking the grass-roots youth inspired campaign of Silent Cry.

These two or three petty kids who have broken ranks with the rest of the Silent Cry youth are accused of squandering much of the money the campaign raised to help the fleeing victims of the conflict, upon been asked questions as to where this money has gone by there colleagues and community members there scheme quickly crumbled.Having lost the trust and goodwill of the communities that campaigned heavily across many cities, an invitation from Ilay arrived and they quickly jumped on the so-called "peace-caravan" which is notorious for enlisting many other figures with promises of cash and jobs as TPLF/Kilil propagandist.

I have spoken to people in Jigjiga, they were heavily guarded by the Ethiopian Military and associated Militia as they toured the region in-order to create a counter to the original Silent Cry production as requested by there TPLF puppet masters(desperate regime).Its quite ironic they want people to believe this selective, one-sided depiction of the region when the Government continues to restrict Independent observers from accessing the region to give there assessments.

The conflict in this region has become a sophisticated business network from the Military who receive kickbacks for backing and endorsing Kilil leaders, to the singers and individuals who honey-moon in Jigjiga benefiting from this revenue stream which is why many in this category feel threatened by the concept of peace-talks between the TPLF and ONLF.The TPLF elite will soon realize that the Bank is broke yet the ONLF is still as potent.

The "youth" are not represented by these callous individuals which is why they have continued there Silent Cry Campaign, now under the OYSU banner and the auspices of the community in an attempt to tame the independent nature of the campaign which gave access to these rogue elements in the first place to squander the much needed proceeds.

They recently held Part 2 of Silent Cry in Sweden and Minnesota.

Faafan, I couldn't have said it better! The struggle will not stop just because of Abdi Shukri and his friend fell off the the boat. Hangaraarac lug uma dhutiyo. I see some clueless fellas claiming that surrendering is a must. These people probably don't understand the importance of freedom. The people of O'gaden will die with dignity instead of living with humility. They have made that decision long time ago and aint no one gonna stop them from reaching that goal. Some think that Xabashis are too strong to be fought against? Oh please! Ethiopia is non but the poorest country on earth. Believe it or not, they can and will be defeated! O'gadenia shall be free!

In short, the country function as a giant marxist concentration camp where people are kept destitute on purpose and food aid, fertilizers etc are used as political control weapons, particularly against other ethnic groups (who heavily subsidise Mekele and its hinterland).*

One can not be against colonialism or appartheid yet accept it's worst form ever because, after all, "the main fighting group is largely from a rival clan"
;

a chauvinistic and racist criminal group is no less worse for being dark skinned (it's actually much worse than any similar group and makes no secret of holding Somalis in the lowest inferior stratum as Muslim nomads)...

Well, unless your comments are general observations, these chaps are not from a "rival clan". Maybe you know better. If you are correct about the rivalry then Meles' theory "only a minor *sub-clan is resisting" is true after-all. Otherwise I'm still waiting for satisfactory answer as to why they would do an 180 degrees u-turn on highlighting abuses they used to highlight.

Actually, half of countries such as France or Vietnam actively cooperated with their ennemies or colonisers;

thus, whether some youth switch over or not is pure irrelevance.

Now, the supreme irony when it comes to Ethiopia is that you have more and more international medias, groups or experts interested by the massive scale of rights violation up there while some Somalis dismiss it because of a "rival clan" or a "State" project.

I was just meeting perchance Phil Rees who came across as quite familiar with the Oga-den issue and we had even the BBC recently joins Aljazeera and other courageous professionals (eg, the arrested Swedishs) in covering atrocities and deliberate starvation in prime time (not to mention the New York time prominent reportage).

Of course, we are a long way from the unity displayed by Eritreans even across religious lines as well as their diligent patriotism, with professionals offering free lessons, masses building roads etc;

however, this colonial anachronism too needs to build awareness (firstly among Somalis who must know the region and its history in detail).

That will hopefully dilute the mistrust which is the prime obstacle as highlighted to me by this experienced French army officer, a Somali acquaintance well versed into regional affairs and well connected (a divisiveness which even limits peaceful lobbying)...
